I know what you mean, I've been on a few places before here and they all seem to be a bit of a joke to the members there, at least here threads don't just dissolve into immaturity and actually have some decent discussion.
I love volconvo and all, but you have pretty low expectations.
Volconvo debates tend to end in logical tug-of-wars with no real winner (generalization). Only really finishing when one person gets bored and moves on. Wins are really really rare as well as losses.

But in all honesty, it's a nice place to learn about what is and what isn't. As well as a nice place to refine your beliefs. But if you're looking for clear winners, I don't think you'll find them here.

Don't forget this is all in good fun!

No matter where you are it's nigh on impossible to completely win an arguement, especially over the internet, what usually happens is the two parties narrow it down to one common disagreement on which they cannot persuade the opposition otherwise. So yes that bar is pretty low, but then again nobody or nowhere can really jump higher then that bar.

Gee I have been registered for these forums since I was 13 or 14 and it's crazy to think how much I have changed. You can see my post there on the second page.

hi.
Since then I have fallen into a heroin addiction, gone to jail, cleaned up, started college, and started a business.

It's almost eerie looking at a post I made that long ago.

Visitor from GreenHybrid

Hi,

I'm one of the moderators (in whom we live in fear) at GreenHybrid.com who recently was pleased some of the Volconvo moderators filled in during the recent Hybridfest convention in Madison WI. I'm checking in to help out in the future.

I appreciate the value of a good debate and roll on the floor every time I see the Monte Python skit, "the argument:"

Just checking in for now to be available as needed. Also, I wanted to find out what a new user experiences. I do like banning URLs in the first posting but I notice my avitor photo hasn't shown up, yet:
Curiously, I can post a photo that appears to show up.

Anyone know how long it takes for the 'personal' photo to show?

Bob Wilson

ps. Hey, that doesn't look like the AL, Alabama flag!

That's the Albanian flag, not the alabama flag. I don't think you can use state flags here.

-I guess this will be a *bump*

My name (alias) is Raze, and I'm a Moderator (post-administrator) on a separate forum). I'm a 20 year college student majoring in Digital Arts. I love writing screen plays, and on my downtime I hang out with my friends whom are really like a second family. Yes, I am a left-wing Liberal (not a double negative lol), though some of my ideals can be juxtaposed to my friends on the right.

I love, and have always debated since I was around 12 (when I really started to take notice of the world) , and I'm hoping to find some good arguers during my stay here.

Hi, my name is Micah and I'm a 17-year-old atheist. I'm a senior in high school and live near Tahoe in California. I like to read, jog, hike, eat (), and meditate. I joined Volconvo mostly to lurk but I will also post occasionally, though I'm not one to argue intensely.

Hello everyone. My brief autobiography:

I was born in India into a middle class family. My father was a scientist, and the first college graduate in his family. My mother, like most Indian women, was a house wife. About when I was 6 years old, my family immigrated to the United States. I have remained in America ever since, excluding a few vacations to India. I am currently a 17 year old senior in high school, currently residing in Raleigh, North Carolina. I hope to attend either Duke University or UNC Chapel Hill. Debating has always been a hobby of mine, and I am looking forward to my time on Volconvo. My other hobbies/activities include chess, cross country, reading, and watching movies.

Hello everyone! My name is Jeff. I've been checking the site out for a couple of weeks now and really enjoy reading all of your perspectives on many subjects, so I thought I'd join. I look forward to many spirited debates.

Welcome all. And your accounts, credit card numbers, and overdraft limit is perfectly acceptable information to hand out to the moderating team...

Aha, hah ha. You can't have my humour though....just my humor...that's the useless bit.

Question: Is there a thread or somesuch that details how many active members there are and where we all live? Like a map with pins in?
