You poor S.O.B. - I was at Bangor, for my sins - went to Aber for a fencing match once - ridiculous concrete jungle, from what I recall.... *sighs in happy reminiscence* Was just up at Bangor at the weekend...lotsa fun.... I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered. -George Best, on being asked what he did with his footballing fortunes. |

By the way, you should have gone to the Bae, the greatest dive in the UK, bar none. Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society. Robert Owen

As for Aber, it was 10 years ago (ish)....and we literally ran in & ran out after waving our swords about! I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered. -George Best, on being asked what he did with his footballing fortunes. |

| Hot Lava Posts: 1,153 | I'm an American Ex-Marine fighter/attack pilot. I also spent 14 years in the Army Infantry. I just turned 60. I graduated from college in 1967 with a degree in social science & English. I have minors in American history and art. Immediately after I graduated I went to the Naval Aviation Training Command, where I was trained as an A-4 Skyhawk pilot. I got 2,000 hours in type. I dropped about a zillion bombs. I have lived in New York, Kansas, Texas, Mississippi, Southern California, Northen California, Japan, Okinawa, Korea, England, France, Italy, Germany and the Neatherlands. I read constantly, non-fiction usually. Currently I'm living in Central Oregon with my wife of 25 years. We love it. I collect old guns. I have over 200 of them. Old swords, and books. I recall well what it was like to be a young feller. Seems like I've accomplished about all that I've wanted to. So now I read, draw, paint, take photos, write, fish, hunt, hike, canoe and watch birds. I'm almost entirely retired, but my wife and I have a business that we work at for about half a week. I am a hard corps conservative, but I enjoy talking with members of the Left. I just wish that they'd eschew the name calling and try to deal with the topic at hand. It's hard for them. |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 3,154 | Welcome Logjam-we need more conservatives here, so my welcome is sincere! It sounds like you have had a nice life full of experience. I am fairly moderate, and while I agree that the left does call names, the right sometimes is not much better. It is the type of person, not the ideology in my opinion. see you around |

| Igneous Magma Location: UK Posts: 303 | Hey guys, sorry i didn't post here earlier, i only just found out that there was a "getting to know you" thread. I am originally from the US, Wooster OHIO to be precise. I've moved around quite a bit, going from the US, to the UK, to Germany, to France, and finally back here to the UK to study international politics and history. I saw someone post on this website, and thought it might be interesting to join, considering i have always loved to debate, particularly when it comes to politics. Having said that, this is the first debating forum i have ever actually joined, so i might seem a bit weird until i get used to posting. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 90 | Trent here, Bit nervous. What can I say? Well, I spend a lot of my time reading books, watching films, playing computer games. I thought, seeing how I'm interested in politics and understanding more about the world I live in, it would be good to talk to different people. Glad to be here. Trent |

BTW: your attitude is one of the only things that you have total control of. So if you hate, just decide to love. All it takes is a flip of the switch.

| Guest Posts: n/a | Grrrrrrreeetings. I AM TheStripey1, peace tiger. I'm new to this board but an old paw in forums... I AM an anti-everything bush recovering republican. I used to be asleep at the wheel, one of the proverbial bush supporting sheeple until a friend of mine gave me Mike Ruppert's video on 9/11 in January of 2003. After I woke up from that sleep and pulled my head out of my a**, I joined a forum and tried to find out why other republicans still supported bush... I'm still trying to find that out... now however, I participate in numerous boards and as you can see, I add to them as I find them. Extends paw in friendship and alliance.... |
