Seventeen-year-old here hoping to get a jump on what college life at the University of Chicago will be like for me this approaching fall (constant casual debate with a fierce requirement for the ability to back what you say the hell up). I hope for Volconvo to become a home for growth in my life of the mind and an end of my intellectual sloth.

There are brilliant concepts and well-read individuals drifting around on the internet: I hope to find them here at Volconvo and to, if not develop ideas of my own to share with them, at least leech off of their logic.

I'm a 17 year old male from Liverpool, England. I attend a local community college studying English Language, Psychology and Music Production from which I intend to study Music Technology at a higher level.

I enjoy producing music and DJing in a bar in the city centre.

Pumping House, Funky House, Hard House, Dutch House and Trance.

It depends who I am playing for, and where I am playing.

heh.. no offense, but those genres have grown too commercial for my taste.. i used to like hard house, and its variants, but then i noticed it catoring to the 18 and younger crowds. and the disaster that oakenfold was to trance... i may still listen to the stuff every now and then, but not often.

i'm a self-proclaimed music nazi.. been listening exclusively to electronic tunes for over 10 years now. used to dj and produce my own stuff. i sold my tables a couple years ago, but fiddle with my gear every now and then. i'm into blending breaks with dark/hard techno. i used to be all about the harder side of trance way back when though - i still like a little scott project every now and then.

but regardless, it's cool that you're doing what you're doing. especially these days when electronic music is off its pedastel.

you have any sets online?

I'm the process of recording a C.D which is going be be a mix of Pumping House and Spainish Hard House. So when I have done that, I'll upload it and you can check it out and see what you think.

I agree with the fact that Hard House and the like has gone commericalized.

The kind of Hard House I play does sometimes clash with Hard Trance. Have you ever heard of Sensation Black? The Hard House that played there is the kind I spin.

I only play the cheesey commerial stuff at the start of the night to get things flowing. Then when everyone is up and moving, I drop the more not-so-known stuff.

yeah.. there's a bunch of different sensation black mixes out there. from what i remember, though, they aren't just the marco v. types of dj's - chris liebing did one too. i'm guessing you're a fan of mauro picotto?

i always had a thing for dutch/swedish progressive though. they do things in a non-fairy kind of way, nice and hard and dark.. back in nyc, our hard trance master was the dever.. the man spun the sickest hard trance sets (this was when acid trance would mix in with hard progressive - also when techno dj's would mix acid with minimal).. his tracks were mostly of the dutch/swedish variety.

I am a fan of Dutch Progressive House. Mostly tracks written by Steve Murano - I'm not really in depth with that genre though. Steve Murano produces Hard progressive and throws in his famous Murano Vocal Break Down.

I have a few Mauro Picotto vinyls such as Iguana, Lizard, Commodo etc, but my favourites that have span in sensation black are: Yoji Biomehanika & Lady Dana.

I haven't any Jon Doe records, but I think I have a CD somewhere of Jon Doe Live, I think the first track is Power Surge or something.

It's the CD featuring Lee James.
