As will I on the bit about "thanks for our blessed United State of America". No offence but some of us manage to get by without it.

I hope everyone is enjoying the company of friends and family today, regardless of your beliefs or where in the world you are.
I really resent the concept of holidays, but I deeply appreciate my family and friends...every day.

Man, even holidays turn political. All of you go eat turkey and go to sleep -- or whatever you do in your weirdo country, nono!
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving.

'Twas Zealot who politicized things by invoking God's blessing on a political entity -- now if that ain't political...

As it happens I could sure go, about now, for some hot turkey, with gravy, cranberry sauce and all the trimmings -- where I live it's already suppertime. So I wish you all bon appétit.

And Isherwood's right: holidays like this oblige people to slow down and appreciate what's really important.

What about the Lunar New Year? That's pretty festive. Or Martin Lee's birthday .... woops, getting political again. :)

I helped at my church gym with a Thanksgiving Day free luncheon sponsored by the Salvation Army. I helped with the parking and the cleanup. I also helped consume a plate of food and several helpings of pumpkin pie. It was a party where everyone was invited. Some of the people who came were homeless, some were single or childless couples, some were impoverished families, some were just local folks who wanted to participate in a community feast. That was the nature of the Original Thanksgiving wasn't it?
