Top Off All Your Gas Tanks Now.

The news is reporting that over 30% of our capacity (or more) in the USA for oil refining has been disabled.

IMO fill up now, because we might be seeing the gas lines in a short while.
It is possible and I'm going out now to fill up.
Not a joke.

If you think it is inappropriate Sean, pull this, but I'm being serious in alerting other members of the board.

I'm going out tonight and filling up both of my cars even though it is probably going to end up costing me more than $60 to do so. One of the gas stations in my neighborhood has run out of regular unleaded gasoline.

One of my teachers has to pay over 20 dollars a day just to get to and from work. And on a teachers pay as low as it already is, these increasing prices take that much more money to just get to work.

Maybe now we can go drill ANWR? Maybe now we can go drill of the coast of Cali, more rigs in the Gulf.. and MORE importantly... we can build MORE REFINERIES in MORE places?

Hmmm how about that gang? Lets use this wake up call to expand and do the right thing, and not let eco-terrorist (greens) force us into these holes.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

Eco-terrorists? Big oil has us relying on a region for sustenance that also is a haven for most of our strategic enemies.

Hybrids are working well and we should encourage their production. Also, why not raise the emission standards and get some of the abusive vehicles off the road so we can keep oil around a bit longer?

I do agree though that the refining capacity needs to be increased. Why is the government not forcing some of these companies to spend their profits on that? Should we build them for companies?

So it goes

Building new refineries have been blocked for over two decades in the United States Sean by Democrats/enviormentalists.

I'm not TRYING to make that a political statement, but it is what it is.

I just filled up my vehicle, $96.00.

How about if we throw eco-terrorist Humvee owners in Abu Graib until this all blows over?

We aint seen nothing yet!

All the dollar stores are going to be $5.oo stores, real soon. Truckers are fed up. Their deisel comes out of their own pocket. They will have to pass the bill on. The economy is going to shit in a hand basket.
Maybe they can get a cap on diesel prices. All they have to do is park on bush's front yard til he gets scared again.

Good time to look at investing in "Bio-Diesel"

Screw the greasy oilmen. The hell with killing and dying for middle Eastern oil reserves. We can grow clean burning fuel.

Until you convert to Biodiesel, buy all your gas at CITGO, they dont export from the Mid-East.

How about we can start improving our mileage in our vehicles and seeking alternative fuels? How about we not fuck about with stupid muscle cars and stupid Hummers?

Don't see that happening anytime soon.

Good luck you HEMI addicts.

Citgo does import middle eastern oil

http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/saudigas.asp

Quote:
CITGO is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the national oil company of Venezuela, so naturally most of its crude oil comes from there. However, in February 2002 CITGO also imported from Middle Eastern countries in the following quantities:

Iraq: 1,342,000 barrels
Kuwait: 437,000 barrels
However:

Quote:
# Sinclair imports from Canada, not the Middle East.

# Sunoco imports primarily from Canada, Angola, and Nigeria, not Middle Eastern countries.

Those were troubling times for venezuela. There was an oil worker strike and a couple of coups d etat:
Quote:
LINK
The coup and counter-coup of April were the result of a strike at the national oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). On April 9, 2002 striking oil workers clashed with Bolivarian Circles outside PDVSA headquarters, resulting in the injury of at least 18 people (MSNBC/AP 10 Apr 2002).
Once order was restored, 2004 shows they only imported a mere 4% of their total, from Persian Gulf region: http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/p...mmary2004.html. So I shouldnt say they dont import ANY. To keep things in perspective if 1000 barrels equal 1 dead child then Exxon-Mobil killed 130,906, kids and CITGO only killed 5,976 children for oil in 2004.
Nearly one half of Exxon-Mobil oil comes from the Persian Gulf, Compared to 4% of CITGO.

As for Sunoco (Locator Link) there is only one station in California (It will take me 6 tanks to get there and back) and there are no Sinclair stations at all, in CA.

I wanted to fill it up before the first spike - but it's in the shop. I'm told it's still good to fill it up today, as it will keep going up.

Everyone with a V8 is hating life right now - and you can't get out of them either. The value is nil. I'm hating the fact I have to buy premium....I should have bought a civic!

Hey guys, if you're ever in Asia, take a look at how small cars are here and how much fuel is saved by driving them. They maybe small. But there're very comfy. :)

I drive a V-6 work truck. A 2000 Ford F-150 that I keep tuned so it runs efficiently. Also running synthetic oil, saves about 10% on fuel. Gas at the corner Chevron went to $3.199 yesterday.

Please, I beg you all, don't freak out about gas. When people react like this, it gives gas stations and the like motivation and leverage to increase prices. I think we have plenty of gas, but everyone is getting worried and filling up all their cars at the same time, maybe even getting extra. We are using up our station's gas more because of our paranoia than lack of gas.

Calm down everyone. Life will continue, whether you save this week on gas or not.
