One vote for Michael Badnarik for President.
One vote that won't be wasted this year.

I worked out five days a week from the begining of the tenth grade to the end of my first senior semester, I never got that buff. I've been out of the weight room for eight months now, and I am itchin to get back to it.

What kind of lift cycle are you doing?

3 times a week for decades...I don't take much of the credit though...it is genetic...I was blessed with long muscle bellies..if I hadn't been, I could have worked out 5 days a week and hardly seen any result at all...

Thats not what I'm asking, I'm asking about your cycle. I'll use the one I had in high school with football as an example of what I mean (I'll just show the core lifts and the first two weeks of the six week cycle since this is just an example).

Week 1
Bench and squats: 4 sets, 10 reps each, 75% (all sets) of max ( in notation: 4 x 10 @ 75/75/75/75
Power Clean: 4 sets, six reps each, 75% (all sets) of max (in notation: 4 x 6 @ 75/75/75/75

Week 2
Bench and Squats: 4 x 8 @ 65/70/75/80
Power Cleans: 4 x 6 @ 65/70/75/80

Do you understand the notation? sets x reps @ 1st%/2nd%/...

I don't do free weights...I got hurt when I was young and I never picked up a weight again...For a long time I did circuits on nautilus, but for about the past 8 years, I have just worked out in the garage on a bowflex...

The machine actually comes with a fairly good workout routine from day to day...I do 3 sets of each exercise..to failure..usually 8 or 9 reps..If I reach 10 reps, I add weight...from exercise to exercise with no rest between..and I work the large groups first...stress on the large muscles starts your motor and prepares the smaller groups for the remainder of the workout...it is the large groups that power the metabolism..

and form is everything...s l o w....thats the ticket..but it really all comes down to genetics...

I did this every day for a month when the Iraq thing started. 7AM to 8AM. I got a lotta waves from drivers. A few flip-offs every day, too. Occasionally someone would shout or bellow something obscene. Twice people stopped to bitch me out, but they didn't want to dialogue. I was just an object of hatred. My signs varied: The above was one of the earlier ones. In the days before the assault began, I held a sign saying, NO WAR FOR OIL! Then I had a succession saying:
1 -WAR-
YOU FEEL SAFER NOW?

2.OSAMA STILL STALKS US

3. WAR COST$ YOUR TAXE$

4. REGIME CHANGE IN WASHINGTON

5. BUSH-YOUR WAR IS A CRIME!
SAME AS PEARL HARBOR

6. SHAME ON YOU, MR. BUSH

7. REASON FOR ATTACK ON IRAQ
FICTITIOUS!

8. TYRANNY
NEW WORLD ORDER
RISING

9. IRAQ-NOT WORTH
OUR CHILDREN'S
BLOOD!

10. SUPPORT THE TROOPS
BRING THEM HOME SAFE
NOW!

11. TV NEWS
NEW WORLD ORDER
MIND CONTROL

12. LYING MEDIA

SAVAGE SIEZURE OF IRAQ

13. OVER COME EVIL WITH GOOD (my last)

Here's one that looks less hostile, heh :( :

Pale Rider: I understand...the strength coach basically taught me everything he knew, including the system that he got the best results with, team after team, season after season, I understand about metabolism and muscles...I can teach the shit like a sumbitch.

The only thing I can think of from free weights you cant get done on the bowflew are power lifts (cleans, snatches, jerks, push press). The other thing with the free weights is you have conditioning in your hands and wrists as a by-product that is more pronounced than on a machine.

Form...indeed, everything, especially in lower body. In the power lifts, form allows you to lift more wieght, in the force lifts, form keeps you off the trainer's table.

When I get back in, I'll probably go back to my old strength coach's program, but since I wont have to limit myself to five days a week or a 75 minute work out, I'll be able do everything three times a week, instead of everything twice between four days, and just running on wednesday, or taking friday (gameday) off.

Piss on your genetics! How tall are you? Dont you dare be taller than my six foot (even)!

Pale,

Jeez, you grow up next to a nuclear power plant or sumthin'? You might as well take bad acting lessons and become a prowrestler.

Good physique man. Keep it up.

bugsbunny...I have a pulley on my garage wall...just a pulley and abut 15 feet of coated cable that attaches to a big bucket full of set concrete with a hook sticking out of it...the other end of the cable is a round bar with bicycle hand grips on it...I roll the cable up on the bar and lift the bucket that way....up and down a couple of times to exaustion...great for the forearms and wrist...

StoneWT...thanks...but I will stick to dentistry...getting tossed around by neandertals isn't my cup of tea..

Nice pics, PatrickHenry, both of 'em. Good for you for having the courage of your convictions!

One has to wonder if "really" has the courage of his convictions, or if he will support kerry who will continue the war.

Well, the two aren't mutually exclusive. To me, standing out on a roadside and exposing yourself to abuse from passing behemoths takes personal courage. The fact that, as I've complained on other threads, the political scene in the US is virtually sewn up by two political parties that represent little more than different shades of the same colour isn't PH's fault. What would you have him do, vote for the Intergalactic League of Blue-haired Marxist-Leninist Dowagers?

Actually Pale RIder,

I voted Nader in the past two elections, am now petitioning to have Peroutka get access to my state's ballot, have posted numerous times of my distaste for the "Demo/Publicans" and think Kerry is pandering to "War Fever" and the CFR.

That said, I feel that GWB has led the US closer to a totalitarian Police/Security State than any previous US Gov and would vote for any alternative. I don't think Kerry could possibly be MORE evil that GWB...

This cycle I will likely support Badnarik if Peroutka cannot get on the Hawaii ballot.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I now favor Peroutka or Badnarik. My stance on the 2nd Amendment has changed in the previous couple of years. I came to an understanding of the need for citizen arms ownership to prevent gov tyranny.

I have noticed that trend in the past couple of years...Lots of previously anti gun types have changed their mind..I suppose the sheer hatred of GW has brought this about...If he has accomplished nothing else, I am glad for this...It is good to see people realize what the 2nd was written for....I believe that your fears are misplaced as the socialists in government are far more likely to steal your freedom (history speaks for itself) but it is good to have people understand that the ultimate responsibility for maintaining our freedom rests with "us" the citizens and not "us" the government.

The socialists may be more likely to confiscate firearms, but I think no president could be less friendly to bill of rights freedoms than Dubya.
