I live in Britain, so this is an issue that really bothers, although no doubt it will bother non-europeans. Anyway, click on the link to get the article: http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/environme...sp?story=484490

What's the solution?
A man has two reasons for doing anything --- a good reason and the real reason.
Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
global warming, global freezing, extinction of species, doom and gloom...
the solution? slap some sense into the environmentalist wackos who invent a imaginary problem to try to destroy american capitalism...
"I really like this jacket, but the sleeves are much too long..."
insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results...

Not to say you're a loonie, but from that post above I don't see anything about destroying american capitalism. What is your problem?

Well it's not entirely imaginary, but I do agree that the environmentalist did some 'spinning' to make everything seem much worse than it is. But to disregard everything they say is... dangerous... And whatever they try to do, I don't think they want "american capitalism" destroyed. I believe they want a more responsible usage of the earth. (basicly). If "american capitalism" is the force which depletes everything on earth to make money, I would say that the environmentalists try to be the counterweight. You get to be a much more effective counterweight (people will notice it sooner) if you come up with 'doom & gloom' stories than if you come with a weaker story.

Le Chatelier's Principle simply put: 'Don't Mess with Mother Nature'
"In 1888 Henri-Lewis Le Chatelier (1850 - 1936) a French industrial chemist made the observation:
"Any change in one of the variables that determines the state of a system in equilibrium causes a shift in the position of equilibrium in a direction that tends to counteract the change in the variable under consideration."
Perhaps it would be better to have a less direct quote. Simply put, Le Chatelier's Principle states that a system in equilibrium responds to any stress by restoring the equilibrium. This, of course, implies that we're dealing with a dynamic equilibrium."
I have spent 'some time' in 'computer simulation' and many years ago I talked about this very topic and the 'predicted advent'...(it was in the latter seventies I suggested this)....of 'the cold' which I proposed would come to the European Continent...(and other parts of the world also). It takes a lot longer to 'turn' an 'Ocean Liner' than it does to turn a 'speed boat'...and as such...because of the many years it took to put our planet into 'this possibility'..then I would imagine it might also take many years to reach an equilibrium which we humans might enjoy more. 8?(

Well, this could help:

Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, bad for businesses, good for overall American health
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

I'm a non-European, and I don't give a damn if Europe sinks.
Maybe their God is punishing them for 300 years of Imperialism?

I love it when people who've never even been involved in businesses make automatic assumptions. Almost as fun as "Jews are faggots".
If the "overall Americans" were so concerned about the environment, they should stop littering. Singapore can jail you 2 years for littering.
Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.

So what you're saying is that the average american doesn't care if continue polluting till the future looks bleak for their kids and all the generations after whom will have to clear up our mess?
Or is it ignorance?

What's wrong with saying all jews are faggots? explain.

If Americans do care about their environment, then they wouldnt litter, smoke, drive cars (take the train for gods sake), or do anything that causes pollution.
Plaything: In most cultures insulting another race is considered wrong. I dont know about your culture....

But if their gov't doesn't show they care (i.e. won't sign Kyoto treaty), how does that translate to the public? But then in the American dream, which is feed to the ppl from their birth, you need to drive big cars and have excessive luxuries (which indirectly increases pollution).
