    My Conservative Math Professor...

First of all, lets put to rest the little fallacy that conservatives somehow get silenced on college campuses. Someone forgot to inform my math professor of this undeniable "fact".

Second of all, this man stood in front of a class of pretty impressionable 18/19 years olds and completely misrepresented science. And he literally told the class, "This is the way you should think concerning this issue." Not one single liberal professor I have EVER HAD has done that. They might say, "This is my take on this issue." But it is always, always, always followed with an exortation to apply and develope critical thinking skills and investigate the facts for yourself.

Yet, I read on this board, and in other places, over and over again, how the "liberal elitist professors" tell people how to think. It ain't the liberals doing it. At least, not on my campus.

    What did he say?
That global warming was a lie. That the population of Bison in the US (tied to the methane gas as greenhouse gas/cattle are bad for the environmnt issue) before the mass slaughter was 10 times higher than the current US cattle population (a damn lie that I found upon directly researching the issue) and that the global temperature is within it's historical standard deviation, a lie of omission...the problem is that it is not deviating by the historical standard...though not peaking above historical highs, it is remaining above the standard deviation line graph. The peaks aren't any higher but the damn valleys have pretty much ceased to be. He said, "People are telling you lies" but forgot to mention that it was him.

My Biology Professor, by contrast, said that the evidence pointed to a problem with global warming, but said, as a good scientist would, that information and data continues to be collected and that we should look for the facts and follow the data ourselves.

I have no idea how Bison farts affect(ed) global warming.. If you figure it out, lemme know. Well, I take that back..I just don't care that much.

I believe the fanatic left severely over exaggerates the problem and because of that, the right brushes a lot of them off.

You brush it off because as you say you don't care that much.
But if you did care and could be bothered to find out for yourself then you would come across information like this:
How to stop cows burping is the new field work on climate change - Times Online
Scientists attempting to find new foods for cattle have already exploded the myth that most bovine emissions come from the rear. They have found the majority come from belching.
There is also much damage caused simply by the increase in livestock.
Livestock a major threat to environment
When emissions from land use and land use change are included, the livestock sector accounts for 9 percent of CO2 deriving from human-related activities, but produces a much larger share of even more harmful greenhouse gases. It generates 65 percent of human-related nitrous oxide, which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of CO2. Most of this comes from manure.

And it accounts for respectively 37 percent of all human-induced methane (23 times as warming as CO2), which is largely produced by the digestive system of ruminants, and 64 percent of ammonia, which contributes significantly to acid rain.
Just because you have not got a clue that there is a problem and are to lazy to bother finding out if there is a problem, does not mean there is no problem.

So really all you have is the ability to remain ignorant on the subject and to be to lazy to bother to find anything out.

I would push for you to do the right thing and actually find some good information that refutes the claims of animals effect on the environment but for the fact that we already have a thread on on the dangerous cow by barts. Also because the OP on this thread isn't about cows but about how ignorant and self opinionated without bothering to find out the facts conservatives really are.

Good of you to demonstrate for us just how right isbskins is.

You've proven my point, so it's all good

An utterly pathetic response. You have no clue about the problems of emission and yet still think your opinion has some worth..

All you have done is inform us that you are clueless on the subject and then like ibskins professor tell us that "This is the way you should think concerning this issue."

It's true conservatives are a sad and pathetic lot.

Well, apparently, it is something like that for him. He thinks it is his job to convince us that car salesmen are evil, the biggest problems in the world today are the result of ATM cards and that before long we will return to the barter system. I came close to asking him how I would barter for a tuna sandwich when all I had to trade was the barns I build or the tractors I manufacture, but decided I would rather pass his class. Instead, I think I am going to slip the research material I gathered about his "cows don't have anything to do with global warming" position under his office door and let it go at that.

By the way...peak Bison population in North America: 60 million. Current NA bovine population 97 million. Add to that the loss of recovery power created by the loss of almost all the virgin forests in the US and the growth in human population from approx 26 million to more like 300 million and you can see where cows just might be a bit of a problem, while Bison...not so much. But hell, what do facts have to do with it, right?
