Its ok I dont hate you cuz i suc at quotes and gramer and spelin .....................
While it would be nice to know who wrote the quote, it's not really all that necessary as you're not responding to the one who was quoted. And if you have to go back more than a page or two to find the original post it's probably best to not respond at all.
If you have to research every post you respond to you're going to be spending a LOT more time online than you had anticipated.

Because sometimes I'll skim a page for responses that were made to my previous post. So I'll usually just look for my name in bold in a quote box. On occasion, I'll totally miss what someone had told or asked me because I didn't know they were responding - my name had been omitted from the quote.

If your name is gone from the quote and you're not sure how to respond, ignore the post and move on to another one that DOES include your name.
If anyone accuses you of ducking his response, just tell him if he wanted an answer he should have used your name in the quote. Then he looks the fool and you don't have to even respond.
It's not all that important and we're not being monitored on post responses.

I make it a point to quote properly, but I'm not annoyed when someone doesn't. I can usually recognize my work by the first 3 or 4 words, scanning for which by no means constitutes wasted time.

I dont really get the frustration. i mean, its not like you can't figure it out. its not even as hard to get as a math problem and we do those all day. what work or strain is a poorly quoted post anyways?
