Okay I realize I asm using a Japanese term that basically means "nerd" and usually reffers to people who are so obsessed with a hobby they hide in their house and do nothing else.
However I have found this term can also work to those of religious beliefs and it is ever so un nerving when I come across them. First off theres the Christian Otaku, who for whatever reason tend to be the most infamous of the bunch. You know the kind, they tend to come around and knock oin doors to tell you you're going to hell if you don't believe exactly the way they do. The latter part is the main part of a Christian oataku and where is becomes rthe most annoying. No, they aren't even happy if you are already Christian. I, being a Roman Catholic, have met these people many times who tell me because I am Roman Catholic and not X denomination I am going to hell for the small slight disagreements on how things go (does it matter that I was simply raised Catholic and don't practice as I havent found the denomination I fully agree with yet? Nope - because Im not yet their special uber denomination that knows everything).
While these are the most infamous of the bunch thats only to set up for what has REALLY been ticking me off as of late. The Athiest Otaku. Now don't get me wrong, some of my best friends are Athiests, and I respect them for their decision, and leave it at that. And my friends tend to do the same for me. Oh if ONLY all athiests behaved this way I wouldn't begrudge any of them. You see, I have nothing against and respect athiest for choosing to believe diffrent than I, just the same I expect the same in return to me. Unfortunatly I rarely if ever see this. How many times have athiests gone around yelling that I'm a "sheep" because I believe diffrently then they do. Oh yes the "illusion of God and an afterlife" is another phrase they love to tote, because only those who can't see past illusions could POSSIBLY see things diffrently than they do. Only a RATIONAL thinking mind could come to their exact conclusion, oh and Athiests are all tolerant and its the EVIL CHRISTIANS with their stupidity that are the in tolerant ones. Oh yes, thats definatly it all right, us christians we're ALL so intolerant I can;'t stand it now. You sure told me! Keep in mind I am not bespeaking of ALL Athiests, simply the ones who are arrogant enough to believe that only THEY hold the only rational thought, that only THEY are smart because anyone else who views things diffrently is just a bunch of fooled morons. I have to wonder if these people even SEE their arrogance and hypocrisy in their own diatribes, the evil intolerant christians are a bunch of dummies, that should tip anyone off to a problem in the logic, but hey I guess so long as you're one of the few intelligent people who have the exact correct only answer a sane and rational person can come to you can afford a little pot and kettle syndrome.
Again, just to end this on a high note I do not bespeak of ALL athiests, some a very nice and intel;ligent people who are capable of respecting another viewpoint and realize that sane, and intelligent people can all coem up with very diffrent views and all of them are valid. I respect those of you out there who believe in no God but understand that you are not the only sane and intelligent viewpoint out there, because I also feel that way as a christian. And so I say adieu until next time I find myself pissed off by something that causes me to write a long rant about something. If I have offended you because the shoe fits, then good. If I offended you because you feel I mischaracterized YOUR view then I apologize but note those that I am angry at are the ones I am characterizing here. Otaku invade far more than relgion but this is where it ticks me off the most.
