Back in August of '03 Sean posted a review for his new website, volconvo, on a certain forum (that I'm now banned from... different story). I saw the site, which then looked very very different (had a splash page, no avatars, no smileys, no images), and I was intrigued, so I joined. At that time, there were under 50 members, and Sean was encouraging everyone to go out and advertise for the site. I stayed around and posted, but my visitation gradually waned... I've gone to a lot of upstart forums to help out, but I usually don't stick around too long. I still got the emails, and I would come back once in a blue moon but I never posted. Well, its been almost half a year since I've been here, and I have to say-- I'm impressed! I was here at the beginning. I saw Sean take an idea, put work into it, and now, create success, something I have a really hard time doing. I can see the forum has grown tremendously, and I just wanted to give you guys a congratulations for making the forum what it is. Good work.

To many more years of success at Volconvo!

Yay, Sean! And I love ALL you denizens of this place. Even my enemies(you know who you are) It's great to have opponents, and I love to argue.

Yup yup, volvonvo rules.
I - too - like everyone here, even if many I love to hate if you know what I mean. I've many times simulated in my head, if we had a meeting... I'd have a friendly beer with everyone I disagree all the time with. :)

Just curious, Is Sean selling anything? I never looked at the main page of the site until now. It's an advertisement for this forum basically. Aside from an ego boost, where is this leading?

This thread? Nowhere, really. I guess I could've just PMed Sean. It was just like... when you see a kid when he's really little, then you see him when he's 15, and you say "woah, you've grown!". That's how the forums have been I guess.

I got an email from nowhere a couple of months ago advertising this place and have really enjoyed it. I'd second Gregory's congratulations on a site well run.

I've been on forums for a long time as a member, host, co-host and started one myself (enough about THAT), and I can say this forum is the best one I have been on to date. A distant 2nd place was a forum (local phone line BBS in Newark, DE actually) I was on close to 15 years ago.

This is the...
Best run
Most balanced
Most congenial
Most addictive forum on the web. I'm sure there are some just as good, but I haven't seen 'em yet. :)

Keep it going, Sean! (Although I'll never figure out WHY he does!)

p.s. AOL sux

Agreed on all points. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. I remember last year when we started. I posted on tons of design sites to get a review of my site for two reasons: exposure, and feedback. I got generous responses in both areas.

I'll continue to run this site to see where it goes. I'd love to get membership in the thousands. We will.

So it goes

to be honest i don't think that would benefit. a forum that moves too fast is overwhelming.

but thats me!

That's where I first heard of Volconvo. I completely forgot.

heh, one day i just saw an email from sean saying to check the site out.. i replied with some sort of question, and he never responded. heh.. but i checked this place out anyway.

things sort of worked out perfectly for me - since i was banned from a pro-bush site for questionable reasons. some say i was being mean, others because they didn't like my constant anti-bush comments.

i do like it here though and i'm planning on staying. it's a lot better here than where i originally was.

keep bringing in the new members too.

hope for america...
