Pat has probably been lurking these last few days getting a kick out of the eloquaint eulogies we have been offering. I prophecise that he will rise again and be amongst us with a 2nd Coming. Have faith.
Hardcore addicts can`t go cold turkey that easy.

I think there is a movement against what has been the norm around here, and some people don't like that. I like the changes, and hope to see them continue.
Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

I liked Pat. I know whenever I see that republican candidate who he had as an avatar for so long I think his name is Patrick then can't remember his real name for the life of me.
I imagine he's jumped forums as I've noticed many a forum junkie do, we just bounce from place to place sometimes.
He's bad news man, helter skelter down the drain man.

Pat's not a junky. He was trying to effect the world, I'll bet. I feel as though the person I know as Patrick Henry has good intentions. What more can you reasonably ask for?

LOL good idea STW, infact anything I predict will be kept track of so I can one day make a thread about how I am psychic! Genius!

I've always had the utmost respect for PH, but the more I think about his departure, the more I realize that right now he's being at best a hypocrite, at worst a coward.
Look at all the support he has here. Think about how he could use his influence to move the debate in his direction. If he really thinks he's right, why did he leave instead of staying and fighting?
Did Ron Paul just throw his hands up and say, "Well, nobody cares about reforming the government--I quit"?
Time for a history lesson. Despite being an advocate for independence, the historic Patrick Henry worked in the British House of Burgesses for over a decade, building coalitions within the system to implement modest reforms like the Stamp Act. Like PH, he was often accused of being a traitor, but unlike PH, he knew when to cut his losses:I hope PH comes back to defend himself, as Athena did. After everything went down with her last month, she still came back, made her case, saw all the support she had, and wisely chose to stay. She took the high road. Pat's taking the low road--the coward's road. The only account of the [Give me liberty or give me death!] speech written down at the time by an eyewitness (which came to light many years later) records that Henry actually apologized after being accused of uttering treasonable words, assuring the House that he was still loyal to the king.
I would hate to have to continue to think I was so wrong about him being a passionate man who fights for what he believes in.

Cowardly ... or just pissed off. If the latter, why should Pat take time out of his busy day to impress us with his "courage"?
Pat is what this forum has too little of -- a broadminded rightwinger, one who isn't locked into a Bushevik or libertarian straightjacket.
We'll be the poorer without him.
