![]() Volcanic Erupter Location: Oregon Posts: 5,174 | Good morning Because of the strong objection to my efforts to discuss democracy and contrast it with the autocracy we experience in common, I have begun searching for another cyber space. I am so excited, because I may have found a better cyber space for my time and energy. A place where those in the education profession discuss things that concern them. The original purpose of the National Education Association was to prepare teachers to defend democracy in the classroom. This was part of mobilizing for the first world war. Industry wanted to close the schools, but teachers argued, an institution for making good citizens is good for making patriotic citizens. It was realized that our institution of education, was the best institution we had for mobilizing our country for war. Whatever, I know readers here really don't care about what I am saying, because they don't engage in discussion. I just wanted to say how happy I am that I may have found people who do care about what am saying. Like here it isn't just that I write with fear of being punished and banned, but I also have such a strong sense that the moderators and other posters do not value me. They appear to working very hard at creating all of us as meaningless and making life meaningless. As though the only purpose for being here is to unleash our anger or be entertained, as boxing matches, gladiator games and foot ball games are entertainment with no other purpose. This can be so depressing! I really hope I found a place where a real revolution is possible and real change in the direction of our nation is possible. I want to make it very clear, I never was here for petty arguments that go no where. I get no pleasure out of challenging the moderators, and that never was my intent. I live for democracy. That is what gets me up in the morning. The longer I have been on the Internet, the more serious my sense of purpose has become. Especially when faced with site owners who do not understand democracy and object to what I am saying. One such site was even titled "Democracy" and the owner didn't have a glue what democracy is all about, other than something like a boxing match with there are winners and loosers and arguing is a form of entertainment with no meaning purpose. The problem for our democracy is huge, but may be I found a site where people can understand the problem, and what must be done. My purpose of turning our nation around and liberating the people from the Military Industrail Complex that is consuming their lives, might be realized. |

You can't just tuck tail and run when the other side threatens autocracy. You turn and fight. And I would fight to the finish to support the reversal of your infraction. It would be a huge loss to have you move to another site--for all of us. Your ideas have been here for years, and there's not one of us who hasn't found himself lost in one of your threads on freedom and democracy. What I mean is, you're a part of this group, like it or not. We can have our scuffles, but we have to admit at the end of the day there are people behind these words who mean you no harm. It's just talk. I implore you to stay--just look how your plight has gotten us to emerge and show our support for you. fushigi "What truth endures beneath the flaming stream?" -- A Volcano, Bartolome de Las Casas, Inferno de Marsaya, 1536 |

How about this for changing the world. One man gets AIDS from an animal in a few years it has spread around the world and takes millions of lives. Jesus didn't say or do anything that spectactual, but Paul took ahold of a movement and wouldn't let it dye. A hand full of people stood agianst Rome, and today Christianity rules in a large part of the world. In the Arab world it was Mohammed to retold the religion and took the action to make Islam a religion competitive with Christainity. Do not underestimate your importance, and thereby be careless with your words and actions. The democracy of the US was started by a handful of people, in opposition to a king, his navy and soldeirs, and all the people the king could pay off. Today the world speaks of democracy and has accepted democracy to lesser or greater degrees. Yes, a handful of people can change the world, and I hope you never forget. Now what are going to do with your power? | |
