    Are you different in person?

I think I must come across very differently in person than online. My sense of humor is quite disturbing to other people at times. I think that it comes across better in person, because of tone of voice and body language.

Do you guys feel you come across different in person than online?

    Sometimes.

but only because of not being able to use body language on the internet.
other than that I'm the same.
    I don't try to impress.

    & I'm myself.

depends on how you perceive my online persona.

i'm a bit of a rough personality. some would call me an asshole, but it's just that i don't have a lot of patience for idiots. my sense of humor and speech is usually a bit crass, and i've been told that i'm not very approachable. but, once people get past that, turns out i'm a cool dude and stuff.

    hope for america...

    You sound fine to me.

I have no time for idiots either.
I may not be too smart.
    But I'm not an idiot.

I'm much more of a corporate whore in reality, unfortunately. For example, I feel I have to drink caffeine in order to stay awake at my job (my job which really needn't exist at all, yet one of the few jobs I can find).

But, in other ways, I'm not entirely different. I'm pretty honest about myself in this forum.

I can't really tell how people perceive me on the web, but my intention is to be myself as much as possible online. I do get the opportunity to discuss topics here that rarely arise in the real world. Being gay and atheist don't often come up in casual conversations. The one topic I've been willing to share here that I nearly never disclose in my life elsewhere is the felony conviction. It is a relief to discuss it without having to worry about losing a job or friendship.
But as the question pertains to personality, I'm the same here as anywhere else. I'm very much a moderate on most issues, preferring to examine all sides and reach my own conclusions based on what I find as support for the various viewpoints. Thus I'm not always consistent across the board on all aspects of an issue. I'm free to pick and choose the parts of an argument I can agree with and discount those I don't.

    You said a mouthful there.

It's difficult to tell how others percieve you, but I would guess that meeting me would not surprise anybody.

Pat didn't run away in fear, so I'm guessing the rest of you could manage to contain your fear long enough to converse a little bit.

I’m probably funnier in real life. A lot of my humour isn’t compatible with the site rules. Other than that, I’m every bit as argumentative, arrogant and sarcastic as I am here.

I type the way I think, and I type as fast as I think, which is why some might find bad grammar in my posts.....

Another reason why people comment on my grammar is probably because as some already said, how I type things is how I say things, and without the proper tone of voice and all that to go with it, it easily seems like I'm really bad at grammar. I type exactly how our accent is here where I live, which if some people in cowboy areas, or from the swamps, if they types how they talked, you'd be pretty confused.

Sometimes people think I'm trying to come off as if I have answers for everything...... and I do.... but I try to keep them all under wraps, because many people like to figure things out themselves

Some people online may find me arrogant and an asshole...... Which is probably due to my sarcastic sense of humor.

I'm a very easy going guy, both online and offline, but I have no problem throwing a question out that either may sound offensive, opinionated, or even throw a comment out that is completely wrong. If it helps other's to think of something a bit out of perspective for a moment, or helps raise other questions, I don't care..... my subtle goal was met.

Another thing people tend to do when it comes to my posting, is they think what I post is always how I see the world should follow and that I am right and everybody else is wrong. All I do is answer the question that was given, with my own personal opinion as to how I see things logically go in my view.... not how things must go.

I'm a very complicated person to talk to in person..... not confrontational, but I always seem to ask the questions people don't think about and I have helped many people in my life with just simple advice and perspective.

When online, this is a bit more difficult, because words can not always describe the message.

I would say that I'm definitely perceived differently online simply because most people online assume I'm a guy. I'm not sure why. I could say nasty things about gender stereotypes, but I won't. But actually, perception is one thing that I'm having a lot of trouble with right now. I'm a little too perceptive and my friends could stand to be a little more so.

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. -- Song 8:6
