Favorite Songs

Do you have favorite songs or at least songs that you like a lot? Are you okay with sharing them for the whole world to enjoy? Then this thread's for you!

I'll start. These four aren't necessarily my favorites, but I like them a lot. Even if you don't understand the lyrics, I guess they sound great. Here are the links to the songs from their movies:

Chand Sifarish from Fanaa, a movie about a once-blind Kashmiri girl and her terrorist lover.

Mere Haath Mein from Fanaa

Suraj Hua Maddham from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, a movie about a family broken by a son's search for love and his subsequent disobedience to his father.

Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna from Rang De Basanti, a movie about a once politically apathetic group of young people who are triggered to follow the activism of their forefathers.

But what's to stop the manic tide,
The suicide of our own pride?

I've never heard those either unfortunately. But judging from the names of those bands, I'm guessing that yeah, you're bipolar.

Wow, nice list.

Yep, I like making polls for the threads since other people's input matters. This was a pretty useless poll though.

Some interesting stuff there Lullaby, I noticed the Avalanches; on that basis do you like trip-hop?

If so check out Portishead and Massive Attack.

It'd take me approx 3 years(or 6 working only half the time) to comprise a list of all my favorite music. JK, im not that much of a nerd... but seriously, Ive got so many favorite songs, I cannot list them all.

Eh, I don't know if I'm very much into trip-hop all together. The Avalanches are really a new thing for me, thanks to that Frontier Psychiatry thread.

Though, I have to check those two groups out regardless! Maybe I do like trip-hop.

But basically, my all-time favorite genre is EDM.. namely Trance and Psy-Trance. Hence, the music I personally produce is EDM (follow the link in my sig).

That and anything emotional that "speaks to me," so to speak.. like Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Frou Frou, Out of Zone by Marbles, Keane, Umbrellas, Postal Service, ect. I'm typically hesitant to let anyone know I like those groups through! They seem to have either a girly tag to them, or an emotional stereotypical tag.. they aren't exactly hardcore.. cept for Keane.. he's just cool.

Oh, and The Pillows are a japanese band. I have no clue what they're saying but their music is unbelievable. It's a shame so few have heard of them!

That's alright, just list a few with maybe a legal link to hear them if possible. I didn't really list all my favorites either.

Seen it literally 53 times, and just found out there is a soundtrack!!

So, yeah. I can relate to that movie, yet, I want to be part of that kinda life. It's pretty crazy. I laugh my ass off every time. And I've seen thousands of movies so far, and this is still my favorite!

*update* I've seen Office Space 56 times now!

I heard "shine on shooting star" as the theme from the anime "FLCL" Nice tune. A lot of Japanese rock seems to be all Japanese with one line of English thrown in for some reason. Or am I just thinking of themes to animes?

And Kube, do you mean "Mambo #5" or did Prado do more numbered mambos?

For me, I like too many tunes in too many genres to even begin to list. Pretty much everything except hip hop and polka.

Oh, and I don't like opera but I DO like classical music.

Hmm, almost impossible to choose. I'll leave off really famous artists, hopefully someone looks up these songs:

Andrew Bird - Some Of These Days
Gregory Page - April In Paris
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Suits Are Picking Up The Bill
Scheer - Wish You Were Dead
Scott Carpenter & The Real McCoys - 2AM Tradgedy

Death to Videodrome! Long live The New flesh!

Mambo No. 5 was by someone else.

I like old hip hop from the 90's like

Aaliyah - Are You That Somebody(which took me a week to remember the name/artist and could only fall back on that beatbox that timberland does in My Love - Justin Timberlake)
Ginuwine - Pony

But mostly, I stick to rock. I enjoy the new MCR single.

Fort Minor is excellent.
