Basically every society forces individuals to give up the right to legally kill under most circumstances. Under what circumstances do you feel one has the right to kill legally? I do not wish this debate to lose track and go into abortion as that is a separate issue. I am talking in terms of self defense as well as the defense of others as well as property. Weapons become secondary to this legal issue.

It is my belief that the legal right to defend one's property with lethal force is a very dangerous legal stance and I think likely it is the key difference between the US and most other western nations. It is that stance that promotes the legal ownership of serious weapons.

My position is that no person should use force to protect themselves, others or property unless there is no other option. If a man enters your home with ill intent then you leave and call the police. If he attacks you then of course you can defend yourself and I do understand that the legal stance can not be if he attacks with a knife you can not use something more dangerous, but you cannot attack him preemptively nor can you continue to attack was he is running or disabled.

The biggest conspiracy of all? The College-Industrial Complex.

Consider this: You have just paid about three times as much for your degree as did someone graduating 30 years ago. That’s in constant dollars — in other words, after accounting for inflation. There is no evidence that you have received a degree three times as good. Some would wonder if you have received a degree even one times as good.

According to the College Board, in 1983 a typical private American university managed to provide a bachelor’s-degree-level education to young people just like you for $11,000 a year in tuition and fees. That’s in 2012 dollars. Instead, those of you at private colleges paid this year an average of $29,000.

And back then a public college charged in-state students just $2,200 a year in tuition and fees — in today’s dollars. You could get a full four-year degree for $8,800. Today that will get you one year’s tuition, or $8,700.

So why does a college degree cost so much? Maybe one reason is that colleges are more resorts these days than educational institution.

Maybe it's time to force colleges that take government money to cut back on the non-educational stuff (leave those to the private sector in the community) and concentrate on good education, at a third of the cost.

The official motto of New Hampshire is Live Free or Die. I have to ask, "really?"

First, what, in fact, does "live free" mean? Very few people actually "live free" given the fundamental demands of getting by on a day to day basis, and the demands created by family, friends, and colleagues. Politically, almost no one is free of the coercive power of the state. As well, most legislatures and legislators in the United States are systemically corrupt because of how election campaigns are funded.

My point? The notion that the vast majority of the good citizens of NH are free is a myth, and the fact is they never will be free. Should they go away and die, in that case?

Great state, New Hampshire (my sister lives there), but super stupid motto.

While I do understand their cause, I have a feeling this is meant to be something more than a peaceful demonstration. They plan to gather about 10,000 folks, with loaded weapons, and amass upon the capital. Open carry is illegal in D.C. Could this be the start of another revolt....

The march is being led by an Iraqi war veteran, I'm sure he is no stranger to combat. I just wonder what is going to start it; a spooked cop, a trigger happy participant, or a firecracker.

We are talking the 4th of July here; a firecracker going off wouldn't be out of the question.

My question mark key stopped working…lol. Forgive the punctuation mistakes please.

"Seattle: On May Day [2013], as police broke up a downtown demonstration and pushed activists (including anarchists) up Capitol Hill, some windows were broken at local bar Bill's Off Broadway, local bar/distillery Sun Liquor, and a Walgreens drug store.
This prompted some immediate debate about who broke them and why. I heard activist types saying variations on: I'd gladly smash a Bank of America window, but I'd never—and I don't know anyone who would ever—want to break the window of a neighborhood bar or pizzeria."
http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/arc...s-were-smashed

Keep in mind, property destruction is one of the biggest critiques facing anarchists. But even that one might not always apply. In addition to this apparent attempt to fix the problem, there's also the fact that not everyone engaged in property destruction is necessarily an anarchist.

So, what are your thoughts on the issue?

When someone wants to rape you, the best thing to do is comply. if you don't you might get hurt. What is so bad about sex? if you have the right attitude, you might get a gift out of it!

If a man wants to have sex with a woman while robbing their house, you need to comply. the best way to decline is to say you have aids! If you were to be in a fight with someone stronger than yourself, they might harm you, or kill you. if you were to 'play along', then you will escape unscathed.

I got into a lot of trouble with my suggested rape therapy a while ago on another forum. The way things go with rape therapy, they tell you you are special and that you still matter. Women cry for attention - time to be mature about it. what happened? you had sex! that is the crux of it. what happens when you get into a typical fight? someone gets hurt! where is the hurt in complying? If you were to give in and have some sex, you could have a condom on you and ask them to put it on. this will settle the culture of rapists down, and then they will be more gentle, knowing that you will not put up fight.

If you cannot prevent it, cure it.

Do you think that having the babies play the boss, like horse riding games and playing with them when they make tea parties, is good for kids? if they get told from such a young age that they are the boss, then surely this will be setting them up for a big fall later in life?

I have a nephew, and since I can remember he has been swearing at me and calling me names. that might be because I irritate him, but that is because I was always playing the part of baby boss with him. sometimes I don't recognise him as a person that is fifteen, but then again, should I have not played that game with him I don't know what I would have done.

Do parents that play the baby boss game harm their relationships with their children or their children directly?

Luigi Prieti wanted to shoot politicians but could not find any - instead, he shot two policemen. Is this the way things are going to be? Luigi blamed the politicians for his unemployment and the fact that he has lost everything - are others going to follow suit? I recently read a book called, The Anger Within by Tom Ericson, which takes the blame/revenge theme as its storyline. A former Royal Marine sniper blames the banks and shoots a number of high profile senior bankers in order to send a message - change or die. It is a well researched crime thriller which poses the question, what if it really happened? The events in Rome seem to prove that it could. Should we start to change things now before more people get angry and start to fight back in this way?

What do u think ?? Is this the trend that is setting in the modern society??

Children that are born into a family where one or more family members exhibits violence will pass this behavior onto their own children out of bad habits and example. After all this is all the child knows, so it is reasonable to expect that they will continue on with this behavior until someone intervenes and shows them that it is wrong. Baring this is mind, it is a reasonable assumption that a child who has been directly involved with a violent existence throughout their entire childhood will more than likely pass this type of behavior on to their own children.

Our current laws define child abuse as any physical injury, sexual abuse, humiliation, shame oremotional abuse inflicted on a child other than by accidental means. This does not include spanking when administered in a reasonable manner. By reasonable they mean that a child with obvious marks falls under the guidelines of being abused, but a light spanking is permissible, so long as no hand prints or belt marks are imprinted onto the child's body as evidence of a good beating.

Adult survivors of child abuse have only two choices in life, either they learn to control their behavior or they continue to remain a victim, passing on bad behavior in a continuing vicious cycle. Controlling yourself can be easier said then done as your self-concept has been tattered, and quite often you are made to feel like the abuse was completely brought on by your own actions. The majority abusive parents were themselves abused in some way as a child. These parents hit or neglect their children because they were hit or neglected, and they become inadequate parents because of the inadequate parenting they received.

Such atrocities against children are not acceptable. What do u think should be done/ can be done to stop this ?? Shouldnt people learn from others peoples mistake ??
