Scientists Warn EPA Over Monsanto’s GMO Crop Failures, Dangers

From, Scientists Warn EPA Over Monsanto’s GMO Crop Failures, Dangers,

A group of scientists is calling for major federal action in order to deal with the threat posed by Monsanto’s GMO crops, now petitioning the EPA to address the issue head on. The groups of 22 academic corn experts are drawing attention to the immense failure of Monsanto’s genetically modified corn, which is developing mutated and resistant insects as a result of its widespread usage. Corn is critical not only as a food staple, but is heavily used in ethanol production, animal feed, and much more. As GM corn becomes the norm, currently taking over 94 percent of the supply, these scientists are seriously concerned about the future of corn production.

At any rate, the notion that GMO crops and foods are safe, posing little or no risk, is a view that does not withstand scrutiny. There are calls to label foods that contain GMOs. Clearly, labeling is not enough. A ban is required until GMO technology as it is actually used is proven to be safe as a result of extensive independent (not corporate) testing. Currently, while GMOs may hold promise, it seems the technology is being abused by the corporations that use it.

I agree. It is necessary to ensure that every organism grown for consumption must be exact genetic replicas of some golden standard. If we allow mutations and genetic modification to persist as it has done for the last ten millennia of agriculture, why, who knows what harm may come to the world!

Oh, you meant artificial genetic modification. Well, until you tell me the difference, I'm unconvinced.

You know, if you just want to punish evil Monsanto, why not advocate the nationalization of agriculture? You'd find some supporters for that. Hell, I might even go along with it.

    What an idiotic strawman...

Instead of waiting for others to tell you the differences, you can always search for yourself you know... or change your nickname to "Lazy Citizen" or "Willfully Ignorant Citizen". But I bet that you will remain "unconvinced" no matter what.

For starters, organic foods don't have potent viral and bacterial promoters, enhancers and drug resistance genes inserted into each and every cell. Organic foods also don't produce their own pesticides, toxins or enzymes for pesticide resistance that encourage the sale and usage of even more pesticides in the food you eat.

I think Monsanto's rapacious history speaks for itself.
Blowback from quick fixes and short term tactics is nothing surprising.
