Mark your calender. On December 31, 2011, the United States officially became a police state when President Obama signed into law H.R. 1540, the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.”

American citizens, along with anyone in the world, can now be detained and tortured by the American military indefinitely on mere suspicion without recourse to legal remedies or review.

President Obama while crossing his heart and hoping to die said,

“I have signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists.

“My administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens. Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation.” [source]

The Congress and the President simply by passing H.R. 1540 have not only broken with the United States' "most important traditions and values as a nation" they have destroyed them. They no longer exist. Indeed, the purpose of H.R. 1540 was to strip America and its citizens of those values and rights, values the nation and the American people once cherished and defended.

They are now gone.

America is no longer a nation of laws, but of men, and is now a police state where anyone on mere suspicion can "disappear".

From this day forward, when an American recites the Pledge of Allegiance and says "with liberty and justice for all" they will be uttering a lie, and giving their allegiance to a lie, to a tyranny.

All Americans--just like Chileans, Russians, and Argentinians before them--can be sure now that one day someone they know, perhaps even someone whom they love and share a home with, will one day not come home, and they will never be told why, ever. Their colleague, friend, partner will simply vanish.

God help Amerika.
