Transformers

So has anyone seen the new Transformers movie? And if so, what did you like or dislike about it?

It was very impressive. Don't expect it to be like the cartoon movie in the 80's.

The only two things that bugged me, and this perhaps might be a spoiler, depending on your interests, but Bumble Bee wasn't a Beatle (Which kinda makes sense because nobody can picture these new VW Beatles fighing tanks) but the other thing that sorta bugged me was Megatron changed into a jet, not a gun or a cannon like Galvatron.

All in all it was awsome though...... the above was nit picking. It leaves room in the end for a sequel, but I expect at least a Trilogy..... but if they have a Trilogy, the last most has to be with Unicron involved somehow...... that would add that connection completely to the old cartoon.

It's got good laughs in it, they make fun of Bush, and some people complained about a lot of product placement..... but if you want to make it realistic..... products are everywhere to begin with, and most of them made sense when they were brought in...

I agree, and I did really like it. The problem with Megatron did bug me a bit too, but Bumble Bee didn't bother me at all. I didn't like what they did to Star Scream though. He's usually disobedient and annoyed, to an extent, with Megatron, but in this he just did what he was told without consideration of disobeying Megatrons orders. As far as a trilogy goes, I think that'd be great, and if there is one with Unicron, well...lol, that'd make a lot of money.

Well I am a little disappointed at the minimal response I have received on Transformers.

Well if they make it right and put it into a trilogy, it could be up there with The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, etc.... there's a world wide audience for Transformers, all the way back to the early 80's....

It was good for starting the story. Much like other movies in the past where you hope for the main character you've been waiting for to get into action, but don't.... like some X-men in the movies..... I imagine some were a bit disapointed their character didn't get much screenplay.

The two main actors have already signed on the dotted line for two more. And, I definitely agree—it was a great movie.

I thought this was one of the best movies I've seen and I am really hoping that they do not screw it up like they did with Spider Man and Pirates of the Caribbean and The Matrix. Any sequels they make better live up to the first which is gonna be extremely hard to top.

I loved it! I loved all the references to the cartoon (the bug in the car lot, the line "I think you're.. more than meets the eye"). I thought it did pretty well with keeping the old story alive, yet changing it enough so that it wasn't completely predictable.
Maybe its because I am a mother, but I was not upset about megatron being a jet. I have the galvatron toy from the cybertron series and he is a jet too... so they did keep it to the story to some point.

Funny, I thought he turned into a Large Cannon.... his minions turned into jets:

Which reminds me.... I think I have a spoiler speculation as to how the next two movies will go:

• Megaton of course didn't die
• The Cube that was shoved into his chest in the movie was a part of Unicron and hence the change in the movie, Megatron becomes Galvatron.
• The next movie is all about trying to stop Galvatron and the Autobots eventually do stop him in the 2nd one.
• Glavatron is about to be destroyed when Unicron appears at Earth and the Third movie ensues.

But Megatron did both, remember when he formed that huge cannon with his arms and then Optimus shot him but he just spun right back around and blasted Optimus right into a building. I never watched Transformers before I saw the movie but I can see how some Transformers purists can be upset at the changes they made to the characters and the vehicles that they became.

Those are interesting ideas, again I never watched the show so I don't know who Galvatron and Unicron are and thus cannot pass judgement on you conclusions( I was more of a Beast Wars fan myself) But my brother offered some interesting ideas too. He thinks that the Allspark is going to "fuse" with Megatron's spark and he is going to come back more powerful then before( he never watched the show either) and if I am not mistaken I think we can expect to see Starscream and Barricade back again too as I do not recall seeing either of them being killed. You seem to know a lot about the show so tell me what you think of my theory.

Well you're pretty close to the original, well as close as compared to the information in the new movie that is.

You should check out the Animated Movie:

The Transformers: The Movie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Galvatron and Hot Rod (AKA: Rodimus Prime)

Unicron from the Movie.

It was done pretty dam well for classic animation and the 80's music of the time, lol.
