Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini said that in couples where one had HIV/Aids, which could pass to the partner, the use of condoms was "a lesser evil". |

| moderat-e/o-r Location: boston Posts: 11,184 | too bad the current pope is completely inflexible when it comes to condoms (and anything else).. the idea that people should only have sex to reproduce is total bullshit, and the church's stance is not supported in the bible. if god created our bodies, as the church argues, then why in the hell were our bodies made in such a way that having sex feels so good? personally, the church's ridiculous stance towards sex is unhuman - to embrace sexuality is to embrace your humanity to some degree. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 264 | Actually, there are no sins in the Catholic church that can't be forgiven with a few bucks in the tray. My father's side of the family were all Catholics and not a single sign of ethics could be found in any of them. They had it made, as they never missed a Mass. |

| moderat-e/o-r Location: boston Posts: 11,184 | i was raised catholic, but i'm not an actively practicing catholic.. i don't need any special religious club to tell me what to do in order to have my own relationship with god. the church has far more sin on its hands than i can ever achieve myself. the church is tainted goods. |
