Then we have Patrick Fitzgerald off on a fools errand. Hes wasting one fucking helluva lot of time investigating the lies of Scooter which are only a cover-up of the larger conspiracy to defraud America. And the other crimes are apparently moot!

Mr. Fitzgerald's response to Mr. Libby's motion was nothing short of jaw-dropping in the brazenness with which it assaults logic and constitutional norms. Mr. Fitzgerald asked Judge Reggie Walton to deny Mr. Libby's access to information about the Wilson mission because, the special prosecutor writes in the motion, "it is premised on relevance arguments which overlook the fact that defendant is charged with perjury, not a conspiracy to commit various other crimes." Mr. Fitzgerald claims the documents Mr. Libby is asking for go "far beyond the scope of what is relevant to the charges contained in the indictment."
(Read the rest of the article. The reporter makes a good case for the broader strokes of the indictment. Thats its not just about perjury.)
As if Libbys' lies to the grand jury are the only important thing here. Its high time we move forward and investigate the big fish. Libby is not a threat anymore.
Wrap it up and move on already, we are running out of daylight.

Time to appoint another Special Prosecuter?

The Plame exposure is a severe threat to National Security. She was working on Iran. Coming back with the "WRONG" intelligence maybe? Our government is our worst enemy.

(Note:
Dont think I am not grateful that the leaker has been exposed as a result of the Fitzgerald investigation.)

Get a clue, Guys! This President, as others have before him, made the decision to release some level of classified data in order to affect policy.
Reagan Did it when he released the classified intercept tapes of the Soviet Pilot shooting down the Korean Airliner
Clinton did it when he released classified information pointing to the former leader of Yugoslavia prior to taking action in the Bosnia and Kosovo actions.
It's nothing new.
The "exposure" of Ms Plame is not even related to the classified information that Libby has stated he was authorized release.
Much ado about nothing

None of this had ANY effect on policy and I don't think it was meant to. All of this was after the fact and simply stinks of getting even.

The fact still remains that Billy executive order was used for this President to use classified data to use as a weapon, politically.

Executive Orders should be removed, period, but for a lot more reasons than that.

I wonder if anyone else KNEW this information was declassified?

This is just like the ports deal, and neither the sheep nor the media is pointing this out. In the port fiasco Bush reassured us that all was well but then he says he didn't even KNOW about it. With this the excuse appears to be the information was declassified for the benefit of the American people yet the information was NOT announced, it was leaked.

This from the editorial board of our consistantly Republican-endorsing San Diego Union/Tribune:

--"But none of this can rationalize the hypocrisy evident in the White House's long-standing claim to be appalled by any leaks involving national security, whether they dealt with Plame, Iraq, Iran, Israel, you name it.

The parsing has already begun – some Republicans note the president only decried the leaking of “classified” information. If that's the best they can do, they should give up."--

Yeah, right. And they didn't know Plame was a CIA operative, either.

They just played Bush's televised quote about this matter, and like Clinton, he didn't really lie. He stated that if there was a leak in his administration that he wanted to know who it was. Well, he does know who it was, it was him.

A wonderful tactic for looking directly into the camera, and piling it on.

Well, at least they learned that difficult lesson from the Democrats, and don't have to make the same mistake themselves to learn from it. That is a definate sign of intelligence.

another point about this bit of news...

since bush intentionally leaked the name of a covert agent whose husband was against his and the neocons' war plans, this proves that bush intentionally lied to and mislead the public into war. bush cannot simply claim that he was given faulty intelligence now - not when we now know that he played a key role in crafting up lies to feed to the public/world.

i don't know the definition of treason off-hand, but i would assume that bush's actions are definitely flirting with treason. not that he'd be given the type of punishment that we need and he deserves of course (re: mussolini)...

i definitely want to see bush impeached, which is far less than what he really deserves.

hope for america...
