Bush: Bin Laden helped me

Bush: Bin Laden helped me, book says

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- President Bush said his 2004 re-election victory over Sen. John Kerry was inadvertently aided by Osama bin Laden, The Washington Examiner newspaper reported Tuesday.

The al Qaeda leader had issued a taped diatribe against Bush the Friday before Americans went to the polls

Bush said there were "enormous amounts of discussion" inside his campaign about the 15-minute tape, which he called "an interesting entry by our enemy" into the presidential race.

Bush's comments in the Washington newspaper were excerpts from the new book "Strategery" by Bill Sammon, a longtime White House correspondent.

"What does it mean? Is it going to help? Is it going to hurt?" Bush told Sammon of the bin Laden tapes.

"Anything that drops in at the end of a campaign that is not already decided creates all kinds of anxieties, because you're not sure of the effect.

"I thought it was going to help," Bush said.

"I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn't want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush."

not that any of this is a surprise, but rather a confirmation of what the opposition has always known to be true.

This is such a wierdly symbiotic relationship. Bin Laden gave Bush the excuse to launch the wars that the neo-cons had benn calling for for years as well as an almost limitless expansion of presidential powers.

Bush gave Bin Laden almost all he could have ever asked for. Bush for all intents and purposes let Bin Laden escape from Afghanistan because he was so occupied with the invasion of Iraq. He demonstrated that the West really was led by "crusaders" bent on the occupation of Islam. Bush gave Bin Laden a new training ground in Iraq as well as destroying all the good will towards America that briefly existed after 9/11.

In a perverse way Bush and Bin Laden need each other to survive.

definitely gets the conspiracy juices flowing.. especially when each individual's actions benefits the other so blatantly (and they both acknowledge that they've benefitted from the other).. and it's not like bush is really hunting bin laden..

And of course, Bin Laden is not seen by the American public as being shrewd enough to manipulate their votes for an outcome he would prefer....

Silly, naive voter : "That Bush sure does get under that murderous A-Rab's skin. I better vote fer him, cause if Bin Laden hates him, it must be bad for Bin Laden if he gits relected!"

Bush : "Yipee, that Bin Laden sure is stupid. Doesn't he know that the American people hate him and will want to thwart him at every turn? If he wanted Kerry in office, he should have praised me, or kept his mouth shut? "

Bin Laden : " Umm. That was fun... Heh, heh, heh."

Conspiracy juices flow on their own, usually independent of any particular reality.

Osama bin Laden is dead.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/osama_dead.html
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's president says he thinks Osama bin Laden is most likely dead because the suspected terrorist has been unable to get treatment for his kidney disease.

"I think now, frankly, he is dead for the reason he is a ... kidney patient," Gen. Pervez Musharraf said on Friday in an interview with CNN.

Osama bin laden was a rich boy I heard. I'm sure he could have found treatment or payed someone to come visit him, wherever he may be, to treat him on the go.

you don't just attack America and die. you live a little to wallow in your self-proclaimed greatness.

again i'm just assuming though.

Now the next question: How far does this go into the realm of conspiracy?

Did the CIA have the tape for months and strategically release it just before the election?

Is bin Laden directly - not inadvertantly - cooperating with the Bush team? Are his whereabouts known? Is he being kept alive in return for playing accomplice to the Bush plan?

All I know is that when I read the transcripts from his 2004 video tape, it sounded a lot like something Michael Moore or another liberal would say. Mind games...
