Having been behind the Plame CIA disclosure, and an architect of the torture of detainees - bringing America's reputation to zero - it is hardly surprising that they don't call him Dick for nothing...

IF you want to make absolutely sure that a hospital not be able to continue to offer care to the people of its community, just ask the Secret Service to prepare the location for a vice presidential visit.
If the President and vice president werent so hated by the masses, they could actually go into public. Like other presidents.

Well we finally got a sincere apology. I dont think its quite going in the wrong direction.

Something weird.....Harry said the shooting happened on Friday. So if thats true they had all kinds of time for Rove to bake the "truth". And rake up the beer bottles. And condoms. And sacrificial offerings. and such.....

I am just trying to get you partisians to admit it is not exclusive to this adminstration. But you simply dwell on this administration like it is something new on the politicial scene. A bit myopic in my view.
Oh, ok. Since others did it too, there's no reason to hold cheney accountable, is that it? Other administrations lied and got away with it, so cheney should be given a pass too. Talk about being myopic!

Cheney took full blame for the shooting in an interview Wednesday with Fox News, his first public comments on what happened that day.
Thats about 5 days too late. A just man would "take full blame" immediately. Faced the music within the hour (or sooner) of the incident happening.

Note:
The link I offered in my last post doesnt have the quote from when he left the hospital, I heard him say he got shot last Friday, not Saturday. Heard it on the radio. Cant find a text on the web.

I'm saying implicitly I hold Kennedy to the same standard.I am saying that most liberals/progressives/whatever term you like best, feel the same way I do. I am saying I AM willing to sauce goose and gander. I'm saying conservatives are another matter. Find one Bush supporter on this board who will say that the Kennedy/Chenney comparison is fair. Find one, I dare you.
You are probably correct.

Never said that Cheney shouldn't be accountable. Just the opposite. You really need to comprehend my writing more throughly.

Yes, it is myopic because you are giving a pass to others and then expect a denoument and a sudden conversion to prosecute. Your agument that allows a free pass to others is a thin disguise for your partisian ideology.

I'm giving a pass to others?? Where did that come from? You are the one that brought "others" into the discussion. You said, "All I am saying is that Cheney hasn't done anything that hasn't been done before by other polticians from BOTH sides of the aisle. If one is going to be outraged by what Cheney is trying to pull off, then please extend your outrage to others that have done the same god damned things as well."

"Well, others did it too" has become the standard opening defense for anything bush or his administration does. And if you can work clinton into the discussion, that's even better. No one said they weren't outraged by what the "others" did, yet you make a lame implication that the bush administration is somehow being held to a higher standard. If you aren't trying to justify cheney getting off lightly, then why even bring those "others" into the conversation??

I am not making any "lame" implications. So zip that shit. I am respectful to you and I expect the same. I never said anyone was being held to a higher standard. That is your assumption. Just the opposite. I hold ALL politicians to the same standard. And that includes Kennedy and Hillary. There is your Clinton reference. Once again, I am NOT giving Cheney a PASS.

I mentioned the others, so as for you and other partisians, to remember that this is nothing new. It is you that is rather all indignant that Cheney isn't prosecuted, not me. I maintain that this is status quo with both parties, and therefore I am not surprised by any of this, including your outrage.

I expected what went down because I have see this all before, cited examples, and do not expect to see anything new in dealing with the republicrats. On the other hand, you seem to want to hang Cheney by his testicles, when he hasn't done anything worse than any other politicians in the past. So I simply ask, did you have have the same outrage and anger when others have done this as well. If not, who is giving the pass to whom?

I have written this all before. If you are going to be outraged by what Cheney did, then share the outrage amoung the other politicians who have found themselves in similar situations. Hillary w/ Vince Foster, and Kennedy with Mary Jo. These people DIED. What is that mantra people use, He may have lied but no one died? I think the shoe is on the other foot here.

I may not like what Cheney has done, but I have seen it before, and I refuse to allow my blood pressure to go up over it. It isn't anymore serious than the other situations we have seen in the past. Have fun in your outrage.

Fade up:

A snow laden woods. The Vice President and friend Harry Whittington are tromping through the woods, the Secret Service follow a short distance behind.

Cheney: Harry, we've been buds for years. Yet this is the first time you've asked me out to your ranch to hunt.

Whittington: What are you talking about Dick? You've been out here several times. Look, I've even got a picture of the two of us in my wallet.

Shows him the picture.

Cheney: Doesn't mean a thing.

Whittington: Anyway, well, I'm glad to have you here.

Cheney: Thanks. Hey, look there! It's a deer!

Whittington: GREAT SCOTT! It's a twenty point buck! Shoot it, shoot it!

BLAM!!!

The smoke clears. The deer has got away.

Cheney: Damn. I thought I had him.

Whittington: Somebody might have leaked your name to him. Probably was looking out for you.

Whittington laughs. Dick has stopped walking and is staring at Whittington with hate in his eyes.

Cheney: What did that mean?

Whittington: I was just...you know, kind of making a joke, you know, what with current events and...

BLAM!!!!!!!

Whittington: YOU SHOT ME!! YOU SHOT ME RIGHT IN MY FACE!!!

Cheney stands over him, reloading.

Cheney: Whoops.

Whittington: YOU MEANT TO!! YOU AIMED RIGHT FROM YOUR HIP! I WATCHED YOU!!!!

Cheney whirls around on the Secret Servicemen, who are rushing up to help.

Cheney: YOU BASTARDS STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE! THE SOW IS MINE!!!

A gutteral growl comes from deep in Cheney's neck. He cocks his gun. The SSmen back off. Cheney walks up to Whittington. He sticks a finger in one of the wounds and bears down. Whittington screams in agony.

Cheney: It was an accident.

Whittington: IT WAS NOT, YOU SICK F*CK! YOU TOOK AIM AND SHOT ME RIGHT...

Cheney bears down on the wound harder. Whittington howls in agony.

Whittington: IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! YOU'RE RIGHT! YOU'RE RIGHT!

Cheney raises his bloodstained fingers to his lips and licks them clean.

Cheney: I'll be the WMD that brings you down if you say any different, motherf*cker.

Cheney kicks him once in the side for good measure. Turns to the Secret Servicemen.

Cheney: Take this piece of sh*t and drop him in front of a hospital.

The Secret Service pick up Whittington. Drag him back to the car. Cheney unzips his pants and pisses on a tree.

Cheney (smiling): Ahhhh...good f*cking day for hunting.....

Fade out.
I just posted it 'cause I hate Cheney with a certain intensity and KNOW that if we knew it all (the lies and vicious dirty tricks) we would be apalled that this guy is standing behind the President.

Did Cheney look like a guy whom felt bad about the incident?

Most people that do usually look like they are about ready to break down and cry. Cheney on the other hand sounds like he scored a good hit and high fiving it.

tinybear, your link is a blog with a changing headline. Rated on a 1 to 10 scale for making your point, it's a zero.

Capitol Hill Blue says Cheney was drunk. http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artma...cle_8184.shtml
Quote:
Secret Service agents guarding Vice President Dick Cheney when he shot Texas lawyer Harry Whittington on a hunting outing two weeks ago say Cheney was "clearly inebriated" at the time of the shooting.

Agents observed several members of the hunting party, including the Vice President, consuming alcohol before and during the hunting expedition, the report notes, and Cheney exhibited "visible signs" of impairment, including slurred speech and erratic actions.
According to those who have talked with the agents and others present at the outing, Cheney was drunk when he gunned down his friend and the day-and-a-half delay in allowing Texas law enforcement officials on the ranch where the shooting occurred gave all members of the hunting party time to sober up.
