Same as they did in the first gulf war. In case anyone didn't know, the United States already started moving their military into the region before diplomacy even began. This was pointed out in many of the hearings in the United Nations.
What is so special in that information, then ?
That is a normal military procedure, in order to make a political pressure.
Moving large number of military troops does not take minutes, hours or days, but months. In case of eventual military confrontation nobody would wait months, but must be ready to act, instead.

It would be nice to see the leaked memo, what does it actually say, the only cited bit in quotes reads "The US would put its full weight behind efforts to get another resolution and would 'twist arms' and 'even threaten',"
Unfortunatelly, that transcript is not going to be released to public.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And just WHERE is this memo? Where is the photocopy? Where is the "smoking gun" document? What does it say in entirety?

Apparently, we don't get to know.

Rave on!

You are suggesting that the vast majority of major news sources in the UK were just making it up? that the BBC and ITV, as well as all the major news papers are just inventing leaked memos? I guess its all a big conspiracy by the "amewica h8ers", those dastardly villains!

Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

Excuse me but, Israel has banged on their neigbors more often than Saddam did. Saddam hit on Kuwait only once and look what happened. Yet the United States has never quickly deployed the military to Israel before diplomacy ever began.

Israel has broken more United Nations sanctions than Iraq ever has yet the United States never deployed the military to destroy Israel before diplomacy began.

The fact of the matter is both Cheney and Bush Jr lied to the world by saying military force was a last resort.

Logjam-

Do you know the difference between a lie, the truth, perjury and plausible deniablity? You seem to have trouble with the difference between telling the truth and lying while not committing perjury. You are confusing the second for the first.

You would not support impeaching this president for being untruthful. You might support impeachment if someone could put evidence in your hands that was irrefutable proof that Bush committed what he knew would be viewed as perjury in a court of law. You allow him his version of "that depends on what the definition of is, is". That makes you the worst type of hypocrit in my book. Bush may not have told a "lie" that could be proven in a court of law to have been a willful and deliberate mis-statement of what he knew to be a fact, but that does not mean that he did not carefully construct language to give one impression to the people, while allowing legal wiggle room should the "truth"come out. If you do not see the absolute truth of the fact that at the very least, he knew he was overstating and presenting worst case scenerio hypotheticals as proven facts, you don't know what the deffinition of is, is.

He lied. It is well documented that he lied. All the Bush claims about Iraq's nuclear program were known to be untrue before the Bush cabal used them to justify the war. If you continue to belive the lies that is your problem.
This leaked memo, even if true, doesn't prove either administration lied about anything. It only shows that both were intent on war, regardless of any action by any side. If anything, it directly shows their patent disregard for the U.N., which in my view is much more repugnant.
