Alito was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court building across from the Capitol at about 12:40 p.m. EST, court officials said.

Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann Bomgardner, along with other members of the court and their spouses, attended the ceremony in the justices' conference room. The 55-year-old New Jersey jurist took both the constitutional and judicial oaths so he can immediately participate in court decisions.

Alito will be ceremonially sworn in a second time at a White House East Room appearance on Wednesday.

These big gov't low accountability "conservatives" got it now. It ain't happening good-like, yaknowwhattmsayin'? Executive branch, check. Legislative branch, check. Judicial branch, check. shit. The founding fathers were religious men, in general. Is there anything we can do to change the provincial winds, Pat? Is this a test or what? Where is the ray of hope? Do we deserve another hero?

Anyone who doesn't know which way the wind is blowing, you might want to give a listen to Senator Brownbeck's speech before the cloture vote. He was so cocksure about the cowardess of the "Scalito Dems" he decided to rub their nose in it just before the vote. He championed theocracy, and the loss of Roe, and still the Democrats(who as it turned out today could garner 42 votes, chickened out!)
