Israel's Sharon Rushed to Hospital

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060104/.../israel_sharon

Quote:
JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was rushed to a hospital late Wednesday after feeling ill, his office said.

Israeli media reported that he apparently suffered a second stroke or possibly a heart ailment. The announcement said Sharon, 77, was taken to Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital, where he was scheduled to undergo a procedure Thursday to close a hole in his heart that contributed to his Dec. 18 stroke.

Sharon's office said his personal physician was with him, and the Israeli leader was fully conscious. Sharon was taken to the same hospital Dec. 18.

Channel 10 News quoted Sharon's spokesman Wednesday as saying the prime minister's symptoms were not severe, and he was being taken by ambulance from his ranch in the southern Negev to the Jerusalem hospital.

Another hospital, Soroka in Beersheba, is much closer to the ranch, and Israeli media were concluding that his condition was not serious. Channel 10 said the heart procedure might be advanced.

This sounds more serious than the first reports: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10709976/
Quote:
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday and was receiving breathing assistance while under general anesthetic, a hospital official said. Power was transferred to his deputy.

Sharon, 77, suffered a “significant” stroke and was brought to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital from his ranch in the Negev desert, an official said. Channel 2 TV said Sharon was suffering from paralysis in his lower body and was taken into the hospital on a stretcher.

Dr. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, the hospital’s director general, said Sharon was under general anesthetic and was receiving breathing assistance while doctors assessed his condition.

A few minutes later, Mor-Yosef emerged to say that initial tests showed Sharon had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, or bleeding in his brain.

Addressing reporters in English, Mor-Yosef said Sharon had “massive bleeding and was being transferred to an operating theater.”

Cabinet Secretary Yisrael Maimon said Sharon’s authority had been transferred to Vice Premier Ehud Olmert.

Things aren't looking good for "The Bulldozer." It will be interesting to see what happens next. If Netanyahu wins the next election look for things to get a lot worse between the P.A. and Israel over the next few years. If Peres replacement in Labour, Amir Peretz, wins look for things to possibly improve depending on whether Abbas can get fatah and hamas and hezbollah to quit firing rockets and suicide bomb all over the place. Given recent events with palestinian-on-palestinian violence in the Gaza Strip, I don't have much faith in Abbas quelling the violence within the P.A.

I think it's wishful thinking from a propagandistic regime, Daniel.

Here's the latest that I can find: http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/sto...ews_0106sharon
Quote:
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was fighting for his life after suffering a massive brain haemorrhage, throwing Israel into turmoil barely three months before a general election likely to determine the future of Middle East peacemaking.

The 77-year-old Sharon was placed in a deep coma Thursday after undergoing seven hours of surgery before doctors were able to halt bleeding in his brain but he remained in a critical condition.

As Sharon's sons Omri and Gilad gathered at their father's hospital bedside, some of the premier's closest allies said his life remained in danger and acknowledged that the man who has made an indelible mark on Israel's political and military landscape is unlikely ever to be able to return to office.

Palestinian leaders expressed fears that Sharon's departure from the political scene would leave a massive void and could plunge the region into more bloodshed.

I doubt PM Sharon will be attending the breakfast briefing tomorrow. It looks as though Cheney will have to break out his black suit. Unless, ya think, ol Bush boy will go?

Perhaps someone will get some answers, after almost 40 years, on the USS Liberty.

Nahhhhhhh, let bygones be bygones, right fellas?

"Israel Resource News Agency confirms that at about noon today, Israel time, doctors at Hadassah Hospital and security officials at the Israel Ministry of Defence in Tel Aviv were simultaneously informed that Prime Minister Sharon had died during surgery.

Israel Resource News Agency has again spoken with officials from both Hadassah and the Israel Ministry of Defence who were officially informed at noon of Sharon's death.

That begs the question: why does the government of Israel deny reports of Sharon's death?

There are two possible explanations.

One is that, for whatever reason, the government is withholding the report.

The other explanation is that Sharon has been placed on a life support system, and that Sharon is 'only' clinically dead."

This blog is following the story closely: http://www.iris.org.il/blog/archives...Judgement.html

He may be dead or just very sick. In any case, Sharon will not be a factor in MidEast politics again, IMO.

Agreed. He is done. Stick a fork in him. However I think it is time to break out the black suits and cover the mirrors.

*shrugs* Well, much as I disliked the man's policies, I hope he pulls through - and comes back to something approaching full health!

My 4 Cents:

No matter what is reported, he could still be dead and they are stalling whilst they regroup.

I think Bushcorp should appoint JoeBlow "brown nose" Lieberman as PM of Israel. Hahahahaha.

Hmmmm, Pat Robertson sides with Iranian leader:

Robertson Links Sharon Stroke, God's Wrath (ABC News)

Iranian leader hopes for Sharon's death (YNET News)

Is Robertson saying that God hates everybody who has had a stroke, or ANY ailment for that matter?

No, Pat R is sticking his foot in his mouth AGAIN.

I agree Pat.

Another report:
Quote:
CONFIRMED: PM ARIEL SHARON IS (AT LEAST CLINICALLY) DEAD
Reliable sources indicate to Israel Insider that PM Ariel Sharon died at 11 am. Israeli media channels still report his condition is "very grave." Director of Hadassah Hospital Shlomo Mor-Yosef officially denies "rumors" of death and says Sharon's condition is "serious but stable."

Channel 10 reports those closest to Sharon as saying he has suffered "brain damage." A likely explanation to reconcile the two reports is that Sharon has suffered brain death -- the lack of cerebral activity -- but that his heart continues beating, while he remains anesthetized and respirated.
<snip> - - - - - - - - - - - ->
Israel Insider subsequently received an additional confirmation from one of its original sources, which we here quote verbatim:

"Israel Resource News Agency confirms that at about noon today, Israel time, doctors at Hadassah Hospital and security officials at the Israel Ministry of Defence in Tel Aviv were simultaneously informed that Prime Minister Sharon had died during surgery.

Israel Resource News Agency has again spoken with officials from both Hadassah and the Israel Ministry of Defence who were officially informed at noon of Sharon's death.

If God killed or made people sick because they made God mad Mr. Robertson would either be in the ground long ago or his entire body would be covered in seeping boils. He's a raving IDIOT.

Care to explain your bashing of Joe Lieberman?

Any proof that the "Bushcorp" appointed the Pope?

Just curious. :)
