This bill doesnt really delete the Abu Ghraib pictures, does it? And what about the contractors? Thats the BIG QUESTION. The mercenaries (who I think are guilty of the worse crimes) can just carry on like nothing ever happened. They have immunity from prosecution through EO 13303. So this bill only stops a few bad apples like Lindy England. Who were following orders.

![]() Ready to Rok Location: Oklahoma Posts: 1,932 | Finally. Now my view of Bush boosts .000001% My view of McCain was already pretty high. Basically torture does nothing. These people hate us and just would rather assume lie than tell the plans. "Well, then when we find out they are fake we can torture them some more." Hello, don't you think they no that. Basically, they can say anything just to make the torture they are under at the moment stop. And if they really don't know anything, it does nothing for us to keep pressing on them. Honestly if we are the nation that everyone is supposed to look up to, then I don't see why we even allow torture. |

| moderat-e/o-r Location: boston Posts: 11,184 | it's always funny how bush will initially oppose a certain provision... and then, when he realizes that he doesn't have the political clout - then, he acquiesces and supports the legislation as if he supported it all along. same thing as when he initially wanted HHS controlled directly by the white house, then caved in and made it a separate agency with congressional oversight.. same thing as when he initially opposed the 9/11 commission, then touted it as something he had been advocating all along. too bad for him that this is way too late in his presidency for anyone to really believe that he's anti-torture.. i don't think all the good p.r. in the world can change peoples' perceptions given what he's done in the past. |

Which or the two entites currently at odds in Iraq captures and beheads non-combatants on camera for press release? Which of the two drags the Bodies of non-combatants and hangs them form bridges on camera for press release? Which of the two captures non-combatants and threatens to kill then unless his government bows to their wills? Your statement demonstrates you to be a fool and a dupe.

| Navy Veteran Location: Texas Posts: 6,335 | It's funny how ignorant some are to the issue. Why did Bush agree not to Veto this? Anyone? Anyone? Oh, it could be because he saw the light and changed his mind. Not. McCain managed to attach this to a funding bill that forced Bush into a corner, if he Veto'd, he'd kill the funding for the war, if he signs it.. he hamstrings our anti-terror measures. He chose not to abandon our war effort ala Vietnam. But hey, you won't read that in the MSM, or the wack job left wing media. McCain is getting very good at playing the Media, this issue is a BS issue, but the way the debate was played out made it very hard for the spineless in the house and Senate to object. "What? You don't support Senator McCain's Anti-Torture bill? What kind of inhumane animal are you?" Viola, McCain gets the press coverage he wants, and the media gets to needle Bush and anyone that stands thier ground. Who cares about saving lives and stopping terrorist? When the next terror attack hits, hey remember, you guys are all about rights for mass murderers. Sick. Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route? |
