Iranian leader denies Holocaust

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4527142.stm

Quote:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has courted further controversy by explicitly calling the Nazi Holocaust of European Jewry a "myth".

"They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred and place this above God, religions and the prophets," he said in a live television broadcast.
Well jeez, now he's starting to foam at the mouth.

Heh, this oughta ruffle a few feathers. This guy thinks that 'cos he's been elected President he can say anything. Well, he's just President of Iran. I mean who does he think he is; President of the United States? :)

The Iranian is taking the cue from the folks in the UK. Negotiate please, we don't want war, please!, we will do anything to please you. Just relax, our lady Hillary will soon be in office and she will grant you peace and we will let you have your way.
Heaven forbid anybody becomes like the Pres. of USA, then everybody would have freedom and we can't have that, my goodness.

Thank God for America and her will to fight for what is right, right Mr. Bear?

I think they (Europe) should invite him to a summit is Austria or Germany. (If you get my drift.)

Your drift? OK, let's try to figure it out: you seem to be saying that Merkel and Schüssel are both Nazis. Have I got that right?

I think you might've. I figure that, seeing as Holocaust Denial is a crime in Austria and Germany, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might just get a bit of a rough ride....

Those struggling to come to terms with Germany's absurd "holocaust denial" laws must first understand that they really have nothing to do with the alleged Jewish holocaust and the affirmation or refutation thereof. If that were the case, there would be no reason to use them, since the truth, being self-evident and requiring neither proof nor vast armies of supporting lawyers and judges, would stand on its own merits and win the day.

And the President of the United States denied having sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky.

So a world leader telling a whopper is nothing new.

Of course it's wrong to state that truth is self-evident by virtue of being true. If that were the case, Americans would have seen that Bush wanted Iraq for its oil rather than to ensure the population's welfare or his country's protection. Hell, many of them are still confused about it despite the wealth of proof.

When you have axe-grinders like Ahmadinejad and many in the West denying the richly demonstrated holocaust, a lot of people who found it inconvenient to their world view will say "Hey, that right. It's all a Jewish conspiracy!"

I think the German anti-denial laws are stupid because they're counter-productive, and pernicious because they play the Nazis' game. But to twist their existence into evidence that somehow maybe there's something to holocaust denial after all is to take a very long and wilfully blind jump.

What he's upto ? Guess he's trying to incite a war/attack by Israelis . Under current situation , even if a bird flies in from Israel to any other Islamic countries - I wonder whether the government of that country stand any more. The mass people will choose the rough n toughs as their leaders .
Moreoer, I think the US has enough of target practicing in Iraq and so they might not be interested to invade Iran ( where they are expected to deliver a staunch resistance ).
So, the end game will be won by the Iranians without going to a war ( some of the puppet leaders like in Egypt / Saudi Arabia in Arab world will lose power ) .

What he's up to is internal politics. His anti-corruption stance has made him bitter enemies among the mullahs, and millions of Iranians would prefer as their president someone who would end theocracy.

By provoking a hostile reaction and further isolating Iran, Ahmadinejad seeks to consolidate his power since Iranians will instinctively close ranks against outside pressure.

I agree . But guess this is extremely dangerous for Iranians as they might loose the control at any moment ! The Pakistanis and Indians are playing this tune for many many years ( over the Kashmir issue ).
Do you think the Israelis will play the fiddle as the Iranians wish ?
I still think the Iranians are trying to create huge discontent among the neighbouring Arab countries .

I should rather think that oral sex fit the description of a sexual relation ;-)

Top Iran cleric backs president's Holocaust remark

Top Iran cleric backs president's Holocaust remark
Quote:
TEHRAN (Reuters) - A senior Iranian cleric on Friday backed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent comment that the Holocaust was a myth, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"The recent comments made by the president ... are completely logical and are what all Iranians say," Ayatollah Ali Meshkini told worshippers at Friday prayers in the city of Qom.

Ahmadinejad on Wednesday said the Holocaust was a myth and suggested Israel be moved to North America or Europe, comments that drew swift international condemnation.

"After the Second World War, the Zionists have spread lies that Hitler, Austria and Germany killed more than six million Jews in the furnaces in order to create a favorable situation for themselves in the world," said Meshkini.

Meshkini is chairman of Iran's Assembly of Experts, a clerical body that elects and supervises the performance of Iran's Supreme Leader, currently Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Ahmadinejad, a former Revolutionary Guardsman who was elected president, said in October that Israel was a "tumor" that must be "wiped off the map".

A statement drafted by European Union leaders described his Holocaust comment as "wholly unacceptable".

"The European countries always react because they cannot tolerate logical comments made by the president," Meshkini said.

While Meshkini devoted much of his Friday Prayers sermon to the issue, former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made no mention of Ahmadinejad's comments when he led prayers in Tehran.

Rafsanjani competed with conservative Ahmadinejad in June elections on a platform of improving relations with the West and has criticized the president for sacking dozens of moderate officials.

Analysts say Ahmadinejad's anti-Israel rhetoric may be part of a strategy aimed at increasing his own legitimacy at home and Iran's role in the region.
