below $.37 are you kidding me, it certainly would not it would go way way way way up. and unless you mail something it doesn't cost you anything, like I said a good government service, no taxes, no fees unless you use the system, how could privatization improve on this?
Pure competition is the only model that is always maximizes allocative and productive efficiency for a standardized product. Economics, learn it.

So you believe that the USPS if privatized would reduce rates and keep the same level of service?

If they wanted to keep the same level of serivce they'd have to reduce rates to stay competitive with the huge amount of other firms that would be delivering mail.

This begs the question: Should the US postal service go private? The Japanese recently did this.
The Post Office has exclusivity to all the postal boxes in public and on private property at this time.
A private service can not legally put their advertisement in your mailbox, that is why they have to drop it down your screen door to drive us all nuts.

What is upsetting to me is that this is another issue where soon there would be that reserve met. They are making money, so why doesn't congress just pass a bill saying the post office has a little time to grow reserves without raising mail costs.
You know what goes up will never go down.
You also know that the extra money will become a reason to grow their salaries, pensions and benefits since in effect this is a permanent pay raise for themselves.
It's dirty, and they should be made to NOT grow their budget and benefits and when the 3.??? billion is reached, they should bring it back down two pennies again.
This news made me mad. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
And Merry Christmas or whatever to you!

definitly an issue. I get get spam all the time in the mailbox. Actually most of them say, "postage pre-paid".

up yours too, buddy. I take it you're a christian. pissed cause christmas is now X-mas. Christmas is one day a year because christians made it that way. If you limit the gift of giving to one day a year, then the economy matches that day so then christmas becomes a corporate affair. A huge selling point. Who the heck is Santa Claus, I mean he's a mascot. I'm sure he was a good thing and that's how he got famous, but most people stopped learning about Santa's history along time ago. Christmas in the eighties and early ninties was pure joy. I mean shoot, the atmosphere was electric and not just because the presents. The whole world was affected. Whether you were a christian or no. IMO. I had no real opinion at the time on whether I was a christian, but I am under the impression that most people believe there is a god, one way or another. All I knew is that everything felt better. The world was right. Too bad it only happens one day a year. This year I don't feel the build-up. Some people seem to be taking enjoyment in pointing out that christmas doesn't feel the same... But seriously GBA have a nice christmas. It started on thanksgiving. Pretty soon we'll be fasting after the feast every year.
