When will Democrats in America stop giving hope to terrorists with their speeches and sound bites for AL Jazerra to play against our military?

Needs to be some censuring in Congress IMO.

Notice that last night Emails that Democrats referred to were from various people, but not from our troops int he field.
The troops in the field were quoted by Republicans who were basically saying nicely to Democrats to shut the hell up.

The vote was called by the REPUBLICANS, GBA, and it WAS a political stunt because the question was phrased as an IMMEDIATE withdrawal. This was not Murtha's meaning and in fact HE voted no on it.
In my opinion they should ALL be thrown out of Congress and replaced by whoever lost the last election to them. If you want to attach the word "IMMEDIATELY" to something how about that?

I mentioned that about a half dozen times in the last week and these statisticians have yet to admit the FACT that not all who oppose this war are Democrats.

As I mentioned to another right wing scholar, only saying "Democrats" to label people against the war was started by the administration and these free thinkers just picked it up and use it without even realizing where they got it from.

I think it was great. The dems have been screaming for weeks to "withdrawl the troops", telling Bush to give them a timetable for withdrawl, we need to bring our troops home now, and blah, blah blah. So they got what they asked for. Republicans put up a resolution for immediate withdrawl of the troops and now the dems are crying foul. What I think is the dems are just ALL talk. They want Bush to fail, at the expense of our country. They just had an opportunity to vote to withdrawl the troops and all but 3 voted against it, WHY??? Can someone explain that?

Because it was a ploy by the Republicans. A politician talking point to trick the Democrats to sign on to an IMMEDIATE withdrawal. You said it yourself, the Democrats want at least a TIMETABLE for withdrawal, a plan, anything! Bush's response is essentially "stay the course and shut up about a timetable."
Even a lot of people against this war don't advocate an IMMEDIATE pullout, and Murtha, the man the Republicans got so upset about didn't want an instant withdrawal and voted AGAINST this GOP scam.

And there was NO chance of this vote going with immediate pullout. Remember, the Republicans, the same people who submitted the bill are the majority party and no way was it going to pass. Ask yourself, why bother to submit it when you KNOW it would never pass? At the very LEAST, you should be upset at the waste of congressional time and resources to go through the motions when there are more important things to do than play games.

Do you still think it was great?

I think it was great. it was stupid, and transparent, and shows rather plainly that our politicians consider this war, and our military, as little more than tools with which to score political points off each other. I find it stunning that so many people simply expect that major political decision will ALWAYS be made around the timetable of elections, but I know those people are right.
Hopefully, a few more moves like this, and Americans will finally get sick of both parties as they are currently formulated.

Don't hold your breath. No matter how dissatisfied with their own party the witless sheep get, they will be manipulated into hating the OTHER party so much they will feel emotionally forced to support theirs, lest the evil other party take over the gool ol' USA!.

Can anyone, from either party, provide supportable evidence that opposition to the war has had any effect on the enemy? Can anyone provide evidence that the enemy would be doing something different if all Americans were united in support of the so-called war?
"Aiding the enemy" is a spurious charge intended to silence opposition.

Yo GBA, do you know diddly about our Constitution? Being so opposed to freedom of speech and so dedicated to our "Fearless Leader" pehaps you might consider changing your name to "God Bless North Korea".

And I repeat - anyone who calls John Murtha a coward is an idiot.

The whole matter with U.S. troops withdrawal from Iraq, has reached its climax.
Both - Democrats and Republicans were playing their parts. It was a political game, in order to get a public attention. Such move was calculated in to gain some points for an election.
I had expected the final result as it appeared, but numbers overcame my predictions.
3 votes for U.S. military personnel withdrawal from Iraq, indicates the following :
- majority of people in U.S. has no clue on politics (due to lack of solid education in faculties that stands for a state's ideological and political fundaments, in that matter)

Whether Democrats want Bush to fail is irrelevant. It could be anybody, and a name is meaningless. Democrats want to take over political structures in U.S.
That is all they care. Some people do not get it, and that is the reason some people got embarrassed by the House's latest results, so they raise the issues on "Democracy" (itself), the Constitution, the Law, ect.

The point is :
- instead of going to streets, people should go to libraries, in order to get a solid knowledge first and be well prepared and ready for changes
Otherwise, people will get not much except for frustration, disbelief, ect. and start posting yet another "shocking news", ect.

P.S.
You can blame all the politicans and/or anybody around for anything, except for :
- no U.S. government has denied you access to any means in order you to get a solid knowledge, ever (!) That is your own fault.
Excuses ? To yourself.

well considering the status-quo that exist and looking at the geo-politic nature of this region, the middle east,it is very clear that our troops have no role to play in this region. Rather they are instigating more political tumoil .there will be more peace in Iraq in the absence of US troops.

I have no problems with reasonable and respectful dissent. I have doubts about the administrations policy in Iraq, too. But Murtha isn’t even plausible as a sincere advocate of reality-based criticism. As I’ve said at elsewhere:

Quote:
“It’s not Rep. Murtha’s opposition to the President’s policy that bothers me but his reasons. He claims that we are the prime targets of the “insurgency.” Has he been living on a desert island? Yesterday, 82 Iraqis died after being targeted by jiahdist terrorists. It’s been obvious to anyone with an eye half opened that it’s been Iraqis who’ve been targeted and deliberately killed for some time now. …”
He doesn’t even sound like he’s paying attention to the battle! This smells of stinking politics pure and simple.

It might be politics, he IS a Democrat after all. But I wouldn't say he doesn't have a handle on it. His credentials are valid and he is well known as a hawk, so why would he do such an about-face now?

Just to give some substance to THIS volconvo debate:
The name of the resolution was H. Res. 571

Here's the roll call: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2005/roll608.xml

If the res was introduced by the Republicans, but NONE of 'em voted for it, is that called "playing politics?" Why introduce a res that you have no intention of voting for??? More cheese from the Republican Party, slime that they are...
