Sunday --Suicide bomb kills dozens of Shiites during mourning Saturday -- Pipeline blasts cost $28 million per day in lost oil earnings Al-Qaeda warns of more attacks Friday -- GAO says military falling far short in filling vital positions Thursday -- Ambush at a farmhouse kills 5 Marines near Syrian border Wednesday -- Hussein Defense lawyer flees, seeks refuge in Qatar On and on and on... and this is just my morning paper. It's like I said during the last election when opponents asked me what Kerry could do to fix Iraq that Bush wasn't doing. My answer was... nothing. Bush screwed us the moment he went marching into Iraq and nothing anyone can do was gonna unscrew us. The local insurgency and the imported terrorists are simply going to continue to make it impossible for Iraq to be governed as long as we remain. Period. They don't care how long it takes or how many of them we kill in the process, any more than they cared about the 1¼ million Afghanis the Soviets killed over their ten years of occupying Afghanistan before the they finally exhausted themselves and left. That's what's so catastrophically bad about Bush's war, tinybear. We're screwed if we do and screwed if we don't. For a long time I was of the mind that it was a bad decision to go into Iraq, but we were there, so we might as well tough it out and make the best of it. Part of me still thinks that... at least until Iraq elects a government. But the nagging voice in the back of my head is starting to win my inner arguement, which is what I said above.... we're screwed if we do and screwed if we don't, so we might as well cut out losses, get out, and swallow whatever bitter medicine we have to, because we're going to be choking on bitter medicine either way. The only question remaining is how many more dead Americans do you want to swallow with it? . I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it | |
