In New Jersey both Republican and Democratic political establishments are so incredibly corrupt that the problems that derailed Taft would hardly bother anyone. Dinners and golf fees would be probably be considered perks. When NJ Governor McGreevey resigned last year it was officially because he was being outed as gay. The real reason was more probably the half dozen ongoing investigations about his fund raising and patronage. "Coming out" looked better than possibly going to jail. I wonder if people will notice that Taft is golfing in Toledo, and near his home. Just watch, Taft will end up indicted in the Tom Noe coin scandal as more information comes out. I'm sure it is no coincidence that those golf outings happened in Toledo, where Tom Noe lives, and plays golf. I believe Taft is also under investigation for any alleged involvement in the falsification of election results in the last Presidential election. |

I would love to see more though, as Milton said and I agree, he had much to do with the Noe vs Worker Compensation scandal, and I know from everything I have seen fact wise, he had to be complicit in the flawed election in Ohio. Taft should be put on trial, and they should throw the book at him so hard it lodges in his forehead. I think much of this has only happened due to the active citizen participation since many read about the election faults, and watched as many people resigned from their local board of elections due to allegations of faults, fearing results. The odor of corruption in Ohio right now is permeating every orifice, of every citizen, and they are starting to become more active. "Toledo is a big one horse town, but it is still a one horse town." Ohio is much the same way. Ohio is, and will be for a long time, the Unions most restrictive state, which in itself is odd, since the Ohio Constitution is truly a wonderful piece of work. A shame it has been relegated to neuspeak as amendment after amendment is made. | Moderator/nobody Posts: 1,566 | There are no 'real' serious calls for his resignation - the Dems are lining up for the next election. They (Taft and his boys) might as well have just given the keys to the statehouse to the Dems. Such is life in the Midwest, I guess its time for the pendulum to swing. | Principled Observer Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 13,873 | The Libertarian Party is making huge gains in Ohio, since Bush's first term, and conservatives realized he was not a conservative. He also helped with his "decision making" since all of them so far have been pretty much wrong. I can almost guarantee the Libertarian showing in Ohio next election will be almost or more than twice the size of last election. (insert laughter here) I know, most people laugh about third parties. Too bad, since they are the only ones who are truly interested in our ideals and our future, as opposed to the majority party corporate sell-outs and pork hounds. When we fix the voting system, then we can expect change. Until there are FAIR debates INCLUDING ALL PARTIES, and an HONEST VOTING SYSTEM THAT HAS COUNTABLE, VERIFIABLE BALLOTS, we are a nation wandering wherever the money points us.
