U.S. Lowers Sights On What Can Be Achieved in Iraq

Looks like the Bush Team significantly "misunderestimated" every single aspect of his military adventure. One can only hope for some form of accountability for these criminals.

"The Bush administration is significantly lowering expectations of what can be achieved in Iraq, recognizing that the United States will have to settle for far less progress than originally envisioned during the transition due to end in four months, according to U.S. officials in Washington and Baghdad.

The United States no longer expects to see a model new democracy, a self-supporting oil industry or a society in which the majority of people are free from serious security or economic challenges, U.S. officials say."

We should have remained on seeking justice for the 9/11 attacks. Trying to fight 'bad guys' / 'evil' around the world was a doomed prospect from the beginning (half the people can't even agree on who the evil bad guys are). I'd much prefer seeing the U.S. freed and set up a new republic here.

I'm sure making such a statement is part of the plan to leave troops in Iraq permanently, America truly is conquering Iraq. Just like the Ottoman empire did in the first world war.

Could be the reason oranged, but there was never any doubt that the U.S. intends to stay in Iraq. It's absolutely Orwellian that anyone could continue to think that the U.S. intends to leave Iraq with the evidence we now have to the contrary.
