A lack of government is a hypothetical situation that has no bearing on the reality - which is that the Thai government is helping its' citizens. Good on 'em. And how pray tell are they doing that?? Most Thai prostitutes (male and female) are forced into prostitution, so am I to presume you would like to see them punished for allowing themselves to be sold into slavery and contracting illness due to a lack of contraception? How is the government making parents look like fools? Quite often the Parents sell their children into the industry. one thing i did suggest was that infected people could take the medication, make themselves look healthy, and then go back out on the street to continue spreading their disease. in a country with virtually no social safety net, these people have little alternatives in order to get money. if they were visibly sick, nobody would touch them. i'd feel more comfortable seeing economic progress in thailand, than some cheap drugs for aids victims. as it is, thailand's economy is in bad shape right now. a poor formal economy always causes the informal economy to prosper, and this means more hiv contractions. | |
