that depends largely on how we react. the best thing to do is keep going as we are. If they felt the need to attack us it is because we are doing something they do not like and they are trying to make us react in a way they want for their own purposes. Bad parallel. I dont see the Iraqi nation expanding it borders. I agree with you if a nation does look to expand through war then they must be opposed. Until that time its we ignore you and you ignore us.

Sounds like an early form of Government to me. The government affect me whether I want it or not. The government also own the largest most organised 'gang' comprised of the police force and the army. Many governments start out as factions of some kind and they usually have at least some kind of backing from a large segment of the population, look at the IRA, they are starting to get some political voice now.

Remember we are at least in part are largely responsible for that world through weapons sales and promoting dictators who are hideously cruel, but so long as they are doing what we want we turn a blind eye, its only once they get off the leash that they are condemned.

not racist at all it is a fact that the majority of the governments in the middle east are dictatorial therefore it is not surprising that their subjects know little about what democracy means.The people of iraq have had their first democratic election in living memory

Nope, if you choose the road to martyrdom, you have to purge and cleanse your soul of all evil and impure thoughts, or so the poetic idea goes. The fact that the Sept' 11 guys went to strip joints and drank alcohol just goes to show that they were not true muslims, same (if they are responsible) goes for today. A true Muslim would know that targeting innocents is strictly prohibited under the Que'ran, guys like Abu Hamza and the rest of em are just like the Christian zealots of the middle ages. Anyone that is deluded into thinking Al-Quada and it's islamic radicalist will not attack if you just leave them alone... they'll only stop when YOUR country converts to thier version of Islam (think a Taliban type regime) until then, you are the enemy, period.

You really should pay attention to what these people really want, and not what you feel is the right thing to do.

What these people want is exactly the same as what Christian based societies have crusaded for over the decades. Christianity has stopped killing people in the name of God and become more civilised in the last century. I have high hopes for these people, the fact that the terrorists are a small minority also shows that a great deal of the middle east wants a long lasting peaceful solution. Dont judge the entire people on the actions of a few.
