There is a strange idea that the best way to resolve a problem, is to begin with understanding the cause of it. The address for the site is at the bottom and this is the list of emergencies that are behind the fight for survival. The problems can not be solved with military intervention, and the US troops are over extended thanks to Afghanistan and Iraq, and the US is running on credit and what is its source of revenue for paying its debts? There are a few things to consider besides how we feel about something. Actually doing something about global warming may be our best action?

Back on-topic, please. The topic is Sudan, not the UN.

Edit - Thanks, Athena - this was not addressed at yourself.

With all due respect, the UN is included in the topic.

Mr V, Do you have a source for that?

From Wikipedia
Since 2003 it has been one of the principal actors in the increasingly bloody Darfur conflict, which has pitted Arabs against the black African population (also Muslim) of the region.
This is bushs way of getting involved in a race war, by not acting against it. The victims are Black Africans, slaughtered by Arab Moslems with aerial support (and government backing) Makes you wonder if American taxpayers are funding the genocide

Can't we pay our debts from the oil revenue that we have stolen from Iraq and the middle east?

As for global warming I dont think that we can stop it as it is a natural process, with man contributing little if any to this event.

Arab Moslems
Okay, but the word 'Saudis" implies someone from Saudi Arabia, doesn't it? The Arabs in Sudan are not from Saudi Arabia, they're black, and those who are not called Arabs are Muslims.

This topic is not the overall role of the UN at this present time. This topic is what should the international community (individually or collectively) should do about Darfur. Can we please stay focussed?

MERLIN writes...If you are asking what we should do from moralistic standpoint its obvious. We should render all possible aid to the civilians. The Christian religion is doing more than just talking about it.

M.B. nice links.

Sudan is one of those cases where we probably could go in and do something. But with our plate kinda full with Iraq and Afghanistan, the real question is, who else can or will stand up for the innocents there dying every day in a pruposeful slaughter?

The UN is relevent because it was founded to prevent these kind of atrocities, but yet it fails to do so. African nations are in no position to assist, so it lies on the other free countries to stand up and take this one.

That they haven't and will not says alot IMHO.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

*sighs* Merlin, this isn't about a Christian v others viewpoint, either.

Is this too hard to understand for everyone? Can we please not recycle the old arguments in the other forums?

Point taken. But next time, stop turning it into a 'Christians good, others bad' thing.

From what I can see, some in the West are turning this into a black/arab and Christian/Muslim thing in order to foment more trouble causing Christians in the U.S. to support the rebels thinking they're helping win the battle between Good and Evil. This is just causing more problems.
