Spanish MPs approve Gay Marriages

Spain's lower house of parliament has voted in favour of allowing gay couples to marry and adopt children. The controversial decision overrules last week's rejection of the bill by the upper house, the Senate. The bill will become law in a month's time, making Spain Europe's third nation after the Netherlands and Belgium to allow same sex marriages.

Spain becomes nation # 4 to allow gay marriages. Congrats all round to this highly Catholic country.

Even more promising is the fact that the process was not initiated by court order, but by a majority of Spain's democratically-elected parliament.

I'm pretty sure we'll eventually win equal rights, but it may get much worse before it gets better.

Nah. It's almost upsetting that we've missed the thick of things. The younger generation simply doesn't sympathize with the older one on this one enough.

Gayfolk (including myself) tend to lag behind when it comes to emotional development due to societal pressure, so it doesn't surprise me that certain issues don't register until age 30 or 40.

I'm willing to bet once they do, we'll see a whole bunch of them calling for our exportation to Spain, Canada, the Netherlands or Belgium. Just wait for it...I can almost hear those tiny little gears working as I type.
