World Bank Under Cybersiege In “Unprecedented Crisis”

Another nail...

“The World Bank Group’s computer network — one of the largest repositories of sensitive data about the economies of every nation — has been raided repeatedly by outsiders for more than a year, FOX News has learned. It is still not known how much information was stolen.

It's a post from a blog site. Once more, please only post articles from Major News sources. Moving.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Sorry Matt...not much luck in the ' Breaking News ' forum...0 for 2

But it is a major story...a security breach of the World Bank Group’s computer network could have long lasting repercussions...it's not as in your face as 700 billion dollars but it could become a back-door billion dollar problem.

I'm assuming by ' major news source ' you mean the mainstream media ( ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, Reuters ) ..what about Sophos, Trend Micro, Cnet, Znet, ...we live in a mass media world...what now qualifies as a ' major news source ' besides mainstream television news?

In a frantic midnight e-mail to colleagues, the bank's senior technology manager referred to the situation as an "unprecedented crisis." In fact, it may be the worst security breach ever at a global financial institution. And it has left bank officials scrambling to try to understand the nature of the year-long cyber-assault, while also trying to keep the news from leaking to the public.

Yes, I have personally verified this mainstream news media story through foxnews.com.

Let the debate begin: I have researched cyberwarfare and the multi-level directions it takes, from organized crime to terrorist activities. My contention is the entire world is a sitting duck for major Internet, Electrical Power Grids, Defense Systems, Food Transports, Communications, and Emergency First Responders 'outages'! (Plus much more damage!).

The World Bank controls the wealth and power of the nations, and if severely penetrated, it would only be equalled by a World War III scenario with mass devastation!

Even if nothing is stolen, but merely damaged enough, the world financial system would collapse. Any global crisis that is already ongoing would be magnified 100 times, and the normal economies would become trashed inside chaos!

It seems the proverbial 'clock' is truely ticking faster in this regard.

A security breach of this kind against an institution like the World Bank definitely could have some very serious ramifications in the future...it all depends right now on how scared the perpetrators are to actually sell or move the information they obtained.
