Puppy-throwing Marine is removed from Corps

Puppy-throwing Marine is removed from Corps - CNN.com

Quote:
Lance Cpl. David Motari, based in Hawaii with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, is being "processed for separation" and received non-judicial punishment, officials said in the statement Wednesday night. The Marine Corps would not specify what that punishment was because of privacy regulations.

The statement said Motari received the punishment for his role in the "episode which generated international attention."

The incident appeared on the Internet web site YouTube in March, sparking outrage from animal rights groups around the world.

In the video, Motari is seen throwing the dog off a cliff as it yelps.

A second Marine, San Diego-based Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion, received non-judicial punishment as well.

Janice Hagar, a spokeswoman for the Marines in San Diego, said Encarnacion shot the video
Some of you may remember seeing this video on youtube or other video sites. Yet, i've found people who think they shouldn't be kicked out of the corps, and some even say no punishment should be taken at all.

What do you guys think about this?

Meh, he deserves a medal, really, for being an improvement compared to your average soldier.

Well I think that obviously anybody with that kind of behavior has no discipline and no responsibility, and will only give the marines a bad face.

Not to mention no sense of decency or morality.

While I find his behavior deplorable and unbecoming a member of the military, I find it equally disturbing that the military is most upset about the attention the incident received. It's like they're saying, "hey, we don't care what you throw off cliffs, puppies, Iraqis, whatever, but don't film yourself doing it...don't leave a record". They should have disciplined him for conduct unbecoming a member of the military and committing an inhumane act. Not for being a public relations liability.

Calm down everybody. The military is doing all it can to ensure that they save as many puppies as possible. I have video proof.

Army families adopt Iraq dogs

So was the video confirmed true?

Yeah, I'm afraid so.

Me, I have three dogs, all of them rescued. If I'd been there I would have ripped the m*%&$*&$s head off with my rifle butt, rammed the camera down the photographers throat and cheerfully gone to the brig for it.

F***'m both. Maybe they should be assigned to serve under Marines that brought adopted dogs home with them.

Just bringing such bad public attention to the corps seems grounds for expulsion. You'd think that even people who excuse the killing of the dog would realize that. It's good to see a "don't be a D-bag, especially on film" attitude.

I agree.

What deplorable behaviour, that person should get more then being punished by the Marines...they should be sent in jail for a year or so.

Does anyone know what happened to those puppies?

Christians should be humane to animals because animals have souls and the Bible tells them to.
Atheists should be humane to animals because they know animals only have one short life.

I will now comment - with little or no substance:

What a sick sadistic fu*king bastard. I hope someone throws him off a cliff, or better yet a bridge.

All joking aside, while what he did was deplorable, it certainly doesn't deserve capital punishment.

Kick The Dog
Quote:

Or the scene, where the villain is mean ... that's entertainment!
"That's Entertainment," from The Band Wagon, 1953

"I'm gonna beat Batista like a bag of puppies."
Triple H, WWE Monday Night Raw

Although not known for his stunning success record, perhaps Megatron's greatest military victory occurred when he ordered his Decepticons to murder a puppy.
Murdered puppy, Teletraan I

The exact opposite of the Pet The Dog moment. This indicates the fodder of anything resembling a modern-day Morality Play.

Essentially, Kick The Dog is used to show that deep down inside, a character is scum, incompatible with the moral rules of the series that they're in. This is the audience's cue that it's "okay" for the character to meet their end.

It doesn't have to be a dog. It's any act or statement that shows the character's meanness or out-and-out evil, such as a boss demanding an employee come to work during Christmas when the employee's kid is in the hospital, or stealing from a blind beggar's coin dish.

If an animal is used, however, a dog is usually the pet of choice, partly out of connotations of blind loyalty, partly from tradition. Arguably, however, substituting a cat can be even more shocking. After all, even bad guys like cats. So, the argument goes, if someone goes out of his or her way to harm one, they must really be a bastard.

Dog-kickings can be verbal as well, when a line of dialogue is used to shock the audience with its sheer repugnance. If it's uttered in the presence of the hero in an action series, he'll echo the audience's thoughts and tell the villain "You're insane!"

Why does it matter, really? Puppies aren't sentient beings. Not much worse then throwing a rock of the bridge.

Do you guys no the term "personification"? Well thats what your doing.

No Im not. Puppies aren't self-aware. People don't care when people kill flies, do they? But their worried about people killing puppies, because theyre "so cute".

Well I don't f**king care. I kill a flie if it annoys me, why not a dog?

If I wan't eat a dog, like Asians do, I will do so. We kill and eat pigs, and pigs are more intelligent then dogs. So why is it unacceptable to kill a dog, and perfectly acceptable to kill a pig?

I don't care about cuteness.

your point that people kill animals, is taken, however there is something to be said about people who get enjoyment out of seeing an animal suffer and or die.
