A car dealership in the United States is offering a free handgun with every vehicle sold. Max Motors in Butler, Missouri, says sales have quadrupled since the start of the offer.

It may be Texas but they do crossreference his answers with a central computerized database. However any criminal who was smart enough to get beer before they were 21 can still get a gun.

To be fair you can't rob a bank with a bolt-action hunting rifle. A shotgun or a semi-auto would make much more sense.

Thats what really gets me. I assume a gas card means free petrol vouchers. With petrol prices so high these guys would still prefer a gun to something far more useful like petrol. That is just weird.

Depends on how much money's on the gas card. even if it's the same value as the cost of the gun, a somewhat generous estimate would give you only 10 -15 tanks of gas, and a gun is a lot sexier than some fill ups, even with these gas prices.

There are two car dealers here who are offering gas with a new car purchase. One promises gas at $2.99 a gallon for 2 years and the other will give you $1000 in gas. That makes a bit more sense than offering a gun. What, when you run out of gas you can just shoot your car?

I'm so glad I don't live in America. There's nothing right about giving someone a handgun with a car. It's like giving a nymphomaniac KY gel. Giving it to them is only going to entice them to use it.

Well, the difference is, the majority, if not the totality, of the guys buying the cars aren't adicted to killing, and KY gel is usually harmless.

Still, its making more guns available to people. Sure, many not want to go around and kill people, but still other things happen. Their children might get it and get killed. A burglar can steal the gun (from either the buyer or the dealership). To allow this to occur will only cause problems in the future.

A burglar can break into a gun factory itself, or just buy one illegally. This doesn't make more guns available, just gives them away with cars, any of these people could have bought a gun at a store.
