Nuclear bomb parts sent to Taiwan by mistake - Telegraph
Quote:
The United States sent nuclear bomb technology to Taiwan by accident over a year ago, and has only just discovered the mistake, according to senior Pentagon officials.

The usual 'tempest in a teapot' so common in the overzealous press!
Quote:
"It is the electrical firing mechanism that allows the rest of the system to detonate," said Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne.
It is used on a missile which may or may not carry a nuclear warhead? Oooooh! The word nuclear suggests something more threatening than a plain old fuse? Were the containers opened and secrets divulged? Wait and see. Is Taiwan friend or foe? Who cares! it has to be Bush's fault and Obama or Clinton wouldn't allow such foolishness and error in the lower reaches of their executive branch?

Thus we play the fools with the time, and the spirits of the wise sit in the clouds and mock us.

Yeah. I would be much more worried about the couple hundred thousand assault rifles and pistols that we supplied the Iraqi security forces that have wound up "missing."

190,000 US weapons reported missing in Iraq | World news | guardian.co.uk

An incorrect shipment of fuses is no big deal. Handing a stranger a gun and getting shot with it the next day is problematic. Having 200,000 of those strangers and guns unaccounted for is...

The missing weapons report is ridiculous also? It suggests that the USA is supposed to keep an inventory of the weapons IT HAS GIVEN to the Iraqi forces? Nonsense!

Did we expect the Iraqis tio give them back? Did the GAO account for damaged and destroyed weapons? Its just another press driven attempt to sensationalize news.

The Defense Department recorded 10,000 serial numbers out of 370,251 weapons. Why bother recording the 10,000?

Why shouldn't we have kept a complete inventory of the weapons we gave to other countries? Oh wait, because it so much easier to lose 200,000 guns when we don't keep records of them. Now it makes sense...

Let's go to the trouble of manufacturing, purchasing, packaging, shipping, and distributing them and then not keep an accurate record of where they went. Now I suppose we should send 200,000 more guns to make up for the missing ones and maybe 100,000 of those will go missing.
