It was never "logical" to think the earth was flat. That was taken from religion and mythical doctrines.

Logic has proven the earth is a geoid, though it appears spherical.

Once apon a time it was illogical to think we could reach space, break the sound barrier, fly period.... what is logical to some may not be logical to others, and sorry, I don't think in the narrow perspective that it isn't subjective.
Well, you're wrong. It was postulated that man couldn't reach space, break the sound barrier, or fly. Logic has proven them all wrong, by removing contradiction systematicly.

I don't expect you to agree or understand, nor do I care, no offense.
The only offense is the assault on logic, because you don't understand it.

A gun is better then a knife.

My whole point. People have a right to competent defense against reasonable threats that exist. In a world of massive armies bearing bombs, space-capable missiles, all the way down to the common bayonet affixed to the tip of a firearm, firearms are the most logical, most practical, most reasonable means of individual defense against all known threats using physical force.

The argument they're making (at least as far as I can tell) is that while it is your right to possess a gun, you cannot prove it is directly improving your safety.
I can do that at anytime, through simple tests and examples, as they have been done throughout time to prove this exact case.

If one is simply lucky and never has their home broken into, is never mugged, etc and they don't possess a gun, clearly the gun isn't the factor that changed anything.
Unless the gun served as a deterrent, which is provable.

Citizens without guns who do not end up dealing with crime are the control for this experiment.
What experiment?

Also, guns do not PREVENT crime.
Guns can help prevent crime as a deterrent.
Being armed and trained with a firearm also can help to prevent crime.

NOTHING prevents crime entirely, and I haven't seen anyone put that forth as an argument.

Really it's a matter of where you live (areas prone to crime or not) and luck. The gun is merely a tool that you can use to increase your chance of survival,
Thank you for acknowledging that obvious point.

Hey I just wanted to say that I live in omaha now, and when the mall shooting happened, there were alot of people saying how it could have been avoided but the fact is that it happened in a matter of minutes, and unless you treat a mall like an airport and install metal detectors and several armed security at every entrance, you can never really avoid something like this. I am not too familiar yet with nebraska law but I know fom what I have read, this kid got in and within a matter of seconds drew out his ak 47 and started shooting. It was a tragedy that I will never forget, I knew one of the people that were hurt and thank god he survived but my heart goes out to all families affected by this tragedy

mark I am sure that you could probably go on and on and on forever with these kinds of stories because they do happen alot. Like for instance I remember reading this story, I cant remember where it was based at but they had a conceal and carry law and some dummy walks into a gun store and tried to rob it while holding the cashier at gunpoint, problem was that there was 9 other guys in there all packing and they pulled out there guns and blew the sombitch away, now that town will always know that conceal and carry will definately stop innocent people from losing their lives
