My whole point. People have a right to competent defense against reasonable threats that exist. In a world of massive armies bearing bombs, space-capable missiles, all the way down to the common bayonet affixed to the tip of a firearm, firearms are the most logical, most practical, most reasonable means of individual defense against all known threats using physical force. Being armed and trained with a firearm also can help to prevent crime. NOTHING prevents crime entirely, and I haven't seen anyone put that forth as an argument. Quote:

| The DON Posts: 256 | Hey I just wanted to say that I live in omaha now, and when the mall shooting happened, there were alot of people saying how it could have been avoided but the fact is that it happened in a matter of minutes, and unless you treat a mall like an airport and install metal detectors and several armed security at every entrance, you can never really avoid something like this. I am not too familiar yet with nebraska law but I know fom what I have read, this kid got in and within a matter of seconds drew out his ak 47 and started shooting. It was a tragedy that I will never forget, I knew one of the people that were hurt and thank god he survived but my heart goes out to all families affected by this tragedy |

| The DON Posts: 256 | mark I am sure that you could probably go on and on and on forever with these kinds of stories because they do happen alot. Like for instance I remember reading this story, I cant remember where it was based at but they had a conceal and carry law and some dummy walks into a gun store and tried to rob it while holding the cashier at gunpoint, problem was that there was 9 other guys in there all packing and they pulled out there guns and blew the sombitch away, now that town will always know that conceal and carry will definately stop innocent people from losing their lives |
