However, if they're not terrorists, they are simply common criminals, and it is a travesty to use such powers against common criminals, as you yourself said.

Keith
Why?

Lets see, under current law, the meth manufacturer gets 6 months if arrested. Using the new laws, he gets 12 years. Sorry, again, I have no remorse for meth manufacturers.

If you want to live in a police state then please get the hell out of my country and go live in Cuba!
Well, as we're talking about CANADA. I don't believe that CANADA is your country, so your statement here doesn't work so well.

Well, since I wasn't actually QUOTING anyone, you have no basis for accusing me of MISQUOTING. If I had been QUOTING, there would have been QUOTATION MARKS around the statement!
Yet you were trying to use a line that someone else said....

No, I merely paraphrased and, in so doing, made it my own statement.

For many, there is no real distinction between the United States and Canada.

Regardless, if you want to live in a police state then please go live in Cuba!

Except them being 2 distinctly different countries, with different laws, different people, different geographic areas, etc, etc, etc....yeah, no distinctions...

I don't want to live in a police state(and as much as people claim that we are in one currently, it just isn't true), but I want the authorities to be able to find the criminals/terrorists/whatever and deal with them appropriately.

Even if the crimes aren't really crimes, but determined to be criminal by the people who are breaking the legitimate laws,

My previous statement stands.

Law enforcement already has what it needs in a free society to find these people and deal with them appropriately: it does not need additional powers. Again, take your police state mentality and go live in Cuba since you clearly want to give government more power and citizens less liberty.

The real criminals (at least in the United States) are the people who have been usurping more and more federal power. Since Canada is, for all intents and purposes, a socialist state, I can't see why the issue of wider eavesdropping powers would evoke anything more than a yawn at the non-news. Its so-called Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a joke and serves to limit individual liberties in favor of the socialist state.

So now you know everything and can dictate to people what they do and don't need to do their job, in Canada no less? Are you a member of any Canadian authority? Do you know that forsure?

Stop trying to shove your BS police state propaganda down my throat please.

Just because a law was written, doesn't make it just.

Just because the overpowering government, in conjunction with the DEA (or is that redundant?) declares an INDIVIDUAL with a meth lab in his basement, for his own personal profit a "terrorist" doesn't make that definition correct.

If you agree with every definition handed down by every congressperson and bureaucrat as "gospel", you sir, are an idiot.

If calling you an idiot merits me a violation, so be it. Even if it gets me banned from this forum. So be it. You, sir, are an idiot, if you accept every law and regulation passed by our government as being "handed down by God".

You sir, as far as I can tell from what you have posted to date, are an IDIOT.

Keith

Just becuase you disagree with laws does not make them unjust.

I don't believe that they were declaring him a "terrorist" but rather a danger(ie using very dangerous and explosive chemicals in making meth) to himself and the community around him. Again, I have no remorse for meth manufacturers/dealers, etc.
