Opening of US Embassy in Iraq delayed

Opening of US Embassy in Iraq delayed - Yahoo! News
Quote:
WASHINGTON - The opening of a mammoth, $600 million U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, which had been planned for last month, has now been delayed well into next year, U.S. officials said Thursday. The Vatican-sized compound, which will be the world's largest diplomatic mission, has been beset by construction and logistical problems.
So did we save Iraq from tyrany and end a threat to global peace?

Or are we just in it for oil and the power that goes with it?

Do we really need such a large establishment? Especially considering we don't see all troops leaving ever in the near future?

Personally I see this as just the clear proof of a visible reminder to the Iraqi people of who their daddy is. Take away the troops and we still leave an army of personal. And of course additional troops to protect them. Typical american excess. I expect they will provide a fleet of armored Tahoe's with flexfuel technology. American excess spreads.

Breaking news this may not be but pretty clear read between the lines stuff that we havn't liberated Iraq, just made it a US Territory.

Use the exact title of the article, as per the format, please.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Both? I don't see anything wrong with this. Its simply a symbol of close ties between the two countries.

You really think the Iraq and the U.S. have close ties?
maybe a shotgun wedding but if the gun ever is lowered we'll see how close those ties are, they could be tied around someone's neck.

Take a look at this map.. I wonder why Iran thinks the U.S. may attack?

I don't see why they wouldn't have close ties with the US, at least with the Bush administration. If Hillary gets elected then I dunno.

Wow. No wonder Iran wants us out of Iraq. But then again, You wouldn't think they would provoke us by trying to get WMDs like Saddam did.
