Karl Rove to quit at end of August

Karl Rove to quit at end of August - CNN.com

Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political adviser, will voluntarily step down from his White House post at the end of the month, senior administration officials said Monday....

Rove "wouldn't be going if he wasn't sure this is the right time to be giving more time to his family," said Perino.
Karl Rove, aka "Bush's Brain," wants to spend more time with his family. He's quitting in two weeks. That's the excuse.

Do you buy it?

I always thought he was a little too smart to keep his wagon hitched to Bush, but I would have done it earlier if I were him, I guess he's not as good at politics as we thought.

I don't think it was so much as him having his "wagon hitched to Bush." I think he wanted to hold to the power he had as long as he thought it would hold out.

Obviously, we cant take anything Rove says at face value. So there is some doubt to the decision for him to leave. My first statement is the only reason i have to beleive he did not choose to leave.

Second, by imitation, which is easiest;

Karl Rove is at a pivotal point right now. Before the shit with Gonzales is over he has time to step out before hard time explinations are going to have to get under way. My guess is that part of it he didn't want to have to nagivate through another minefield and is getting out with old lumps before getting new ones.
