| Mass'Debator | Update: Suspect in 3 slayings to be flown to Ontario Quote:
A 22-year-old man captured in Quebec will be flown to Ontario Wednesday to face first-degree murder charges in the slayings of three people.
Jesse Imeson was captured late Tuesday in a wooded area near the Quebec-Ontario border after a manhunt that lasted nearly two weeks. He was wanted in connection with the July killings of a Windsor bartender and an elderly couple from the Lake Huron community of Dashwood.
Quebec provincial police said Imeson broke into a cottage in Portage-du-Fort, west of Ottawa and near the Ontario border.
Dale Lewis, who owns a cottage next door, told CBC News he spotted a suspicious man inside a neighbour's cottage around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night and went to get a closer look.
Once on his neighbour's porch, Lewis heard the television from inside the cottage and peered in the window, but couldn't see anything.
"I walked around to the back window, and as I looked, a figure jumped behind the centre post in his living room," he said.
At the time, Lewis said he thought he had cornered a local burglar responsible for a string of recent break-ins in the area. He quietly backed away from the cottage and ran to another neighbour, a retired Ottawa police officer, and the two contacted police.
"He did the right thing," Sgt. Michel Brunet told CBCNews.ca from Quebec police headquarters in Montreal. "We had told people not to do anything because of the danger, and phone police. That's what he did.
"He gave us very good information." Quebec police called Ontario Provincial Police, who quickly surrounded the area, aided by helicopters and police dogs. Police from both provinces had Imeson surrounded by 8:45 p.m., Brunet said.
Imeson, armed with two rifles, surrendered peacefully.
"He had nowhere to go," Brunet said.
Imeson was being held in Campbell's Bay, Que., on Wednesday morning.
Lead investigators from the Ontario Provincial Police were expected to arrive by OPP plane at Arnprior Airport, west of Ottawa, at 10:45 ET and will then have the arrest warrant endorsed in Quebec, said Renfrew OPP Constable Cathy Lindsey.
The officers will travel to Campbell's Bay to pick up Imeson. He will then be flown to London, Ont.
Investigators have scheduled a news conference in London at 3 p.m. ET. Couple's pickup truck found in area
Imeson was captured near the area where a stolen pickup truck connected to the killings was found.
Police said the 2006 GMC Sierra, found in the woods near Renfrew, Ont., belonged to William and Helene Regier, who were found dead in their farmhouse on July 23.
Police believe their killer drove the couple's truck 600 kilometres to the Renfrew area.
Along with the Regier slayings, Imeson was also sought in the death of bartender Carlos Rivera, 25.
Rivera's body was found July 19 in a room Imeson rented at a boarding house in Windsor.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Imeson's arrest for three counts of first-degree murder, with the U.S. TV program America's Most Wanted joining in the manhunt last week by listing Imeson as a top fugitive on its website.
