Democrats seek perjury investigation of Gonzales

Democrats seek perjury investigation of Gonzales | U.S. | Reuters

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A special counsel should be named to investigate possible perjury by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in sworn testimony to Congress, four U.S. Senate Democrats wrote in a letter on Thursday.

The senators wrote U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement asking that he appoint an independent counsel to investigate Gonzales' testimony to Congress regarding the firing of prosecutors and President George W. Bush's warrantless domestic spying program.
Another ring of show ponies to an action packed 3 ring circus.

I think a high school student, with no legal education could prosecute this nimrod successfully.

Never going to happen.

This is a show for the Democrats to get their stupid left wing to send them money in fund raising letters and that is about it.

Gonzales's testimony, or lack thereof, has been a travesty. His defective memory and outright contempt for Congress is appalling for someone in his position. Like John Mitchell, he ought to be convicted of, at the least, obstruction of justice and perjury.
He's not even trying to be coy about his attitude and misbehavior.

LOL, thanks for the comedy.

I pray Democrats keep it up for two reasons.

#1 When they are doing this BS they are spending less time doing damage and fostering massive socialism and bribes to unions and government employees.

#2 The other thing I love is the more Democrats are willing to be themselves and do, the closer their 15% approval rating will get to 0%..

I love it, keep it up please all Democrats.

Oh by the way, Democrats have already opened over 300 different time wasting investigations instead of offering even 300 hours of work doing the people's business.

I'm neither Democrat or Republican, so the mud you sling isn't going to stick. I don't want any government official to refuse to submit to the checks and balances built into the system. Current officials in the administration who think they're above the law and not answerable to the American people are not only not doing their jobs but are showing their contempt for our Constitutional government. If you don't respect the system you work within, you have no business working there.

It's not just the liberals calling for Gonzales' resignation.
Quote:
...an influential group of conservatives is now demanding that the AG go. Pertinent quotes from their letter assert: "Mr. Gonzales has presided over an unprecedented crippling of the Constitution's time-honored checks and balances. He has brought rule of law into disrepute, and debased honesty as the coin of the realm. ... He has engendered the suspicion that partisan politics trumps evenhanded law enforcement in the Department of Justice."

Among those who have signed the letter, Zagorin reports, are Bruce Fein, a former senior official in the Reagan Justice Department, who has worked frequently with current Administration and the Republican National Committee to promote Bush's court nominees; David Keene, chairman of the influential American Conservative Union, one of the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative groups, Richard Viguerie, a well-known GOP direct mail expert and fundraiser, Bob Barr, the former Republican congressman from Georgia and free speech advocate, as well as John Whitehead, head of the Rutherford Institute, a conservative non-profit* active in fighting for what it calls religious freedoms.
