WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A special counsel should be named to investigate possible perjury by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in sworn testimony to Congress, four U.S. Senate Democrats wrote in a letter on Thursday. The senators wrote U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement asking that he appoint an independent counsel to investigate Gonzales' testimony to Congress regarding the firing of prosecutors and President George W. Bush's warrantless domestic spying program.

Gonzales's testimony, or lack thereof, has been a travesty. His defective memory and outright contempt for Congress is appalling for someone in his position. Like John Mitchell, he ought to be convicted of, at the least, obstruction of justice and perjury.
He's not even trying to be coy about his attitude and misbehavior.

#1 When they are doing this BS they are spending less time doing damage and fostering massive socialism and bribes to unions and government employees.

#2 The other thing I love is the more Democrats are willing to be themselves and do, the closer their 15% approval rating will get to 0%..

I'm neither Democrat or Republican, so the mud you sling isn't going to stick. I don't want any government official to refuse to submit to the checks and balances built into the system. Current officials in the administration who think they're above the law and not answerable to the American people are not only not doing their jobs but are showing their contempt for our Constitutional government. Among those who have signed the letter, Zagorin reports, are Bruce Fein, a former senior official in the Reagan Justice Department, who has worked frequently with current Administration and the Republican National Committee to promote Bush's court nominees; David Keene, chairman of the influential American Conservative Union, one of the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative groups, Richard Viguerie, a well-known GOP direct mail expert and fundraiser, Bob Barr, the former Republican congressman from Georgia and free speech advocate, as well as John Whitehead, head of the Rutherford Institute, a conservative non-profit* active in fighting for what it calls religious freedoms.
