GOP shows fissures on Iraq

GOP shows fissures on Iraq - Politics - MSNBC.com
Quote:
Republican support for the Iraq war is slipping by the day. After four years of combat and more than 3,560 U.S. deaths, two GOP senators previously reluctant to challenge President Bush on the war announced they could no longer support the deployment of 157,000 troops and asked the president to begin bringing them home.
I haven't watched FOX News in a while, so I wonder if they will blame the media for these changes in tune. Also, I wonder how much longer such defections can occur without them seriously affecting the war effort.

I believe the line of reasoning for the mounting public opposition by the elected politicians will go something like this:

"The US implemented the "surge" in Iraq and it has not lived up to the expectations of either the Iraqi or the American people. Furthermore, the Iraqi people have failed to step up to the task for taking control of the insurgency in their own country, so the time has come for the US to begin its phased withdrawal of its troops from Iraq."

I am not a plaigarist there Gramps. When I use someone's writing, I a give them the credit.

Me thinks you underestimate my writing abilities there Gramps.

But you will probably see this quote, or something damn close to it, this fall.
