Arab diplomat resigns after Iraq mission - Yahoo! News

Quote:
The Arab League sent Mokhtar Lamani to Iraq to persuade its bitterly divided Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish leaders to make peace. He failed, and has now resigned, disillusioned and nearly drained of hope.

He says his mission was doomed by feeble support from the Arab governments that hired him, U.S. policies and the refusal of Iraq's leaders to work together.
This story is a must read and I am very interested to hear others comments on the story and what this means for the future of Iraq. I strongly urge all Americans to get off their butts and elect a leader in 2008 that will realize the need for Iran and possibly Syria to become part of bringing this problem in Iraq to a resolve before it's to late.

This quote from the article is the Hawk/GWB/Republican view! But this is seeming like a no win situation: (1) Stay and prolong the inevitable or (2) Leave and Iraq becomes the bloodiest civil war in the world!

Quote:
If Iraq falls into outright civil war, "it will burn down everything, and not only in Iraq," he said. "God alone knows how far it will go."
